Rumor: Leaked Killzone 3 concept art and details surface [UPDATE]
Update 2: Here’s some scans from Gamepro over on AGB.
Update: Apparently, the latest issue of Gamepro has the goods on Killzone 3 and the game has jetpacks and can be played in 3D. Hit the jump.
According to a poster over on the GameSpot UK forums, here’s what’s in the mag:
- Will show the Helghast have humanity left in them
- Will have the feeling that “of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you.”
- Will be like Inglorious Basterds.
- All of the characters in the screenshots are flying in.. jetpacks?!
- Will include arctic levels.
- One mission in the game involves rescuing ISA Captain Narville.
- Game is playable in 3D
- Have to wear 3D glasses, apparently the 3D effects are “crazy.”
- Combat is “unchanged from predecessor.”
- Or is it? Hand to hand combat involves you “Unloading a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies.”
- The scale is supposed to be “bigger this time.”
- The Jetpacks are “surprisingly lightweight and agile, Killzone 3′s jetpack is easier to maneuver compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games.”
- New weapon called the Wasp, basically shoots a “flurry of rockets” at an enemy.
- Will show off the Helghast culture.
- There is actually a Helghast language, which will be explored in the game.
- Will have “diverse locales.”
- Have to sit in the center of the 3D tv for the 3D effects to work.
- 3D in this game is called a “Game Changer.”
- Going to have “Intense Action”
- Jetpacks double as a weapon, which basically means a machine gun mounted right on top of it.
- If you shoot Helghast with jetpacks, they’ll “explode like roman candles”
- To control the jetpack, you “have to activate bursts of speed in midair, propelling yourself across further distances.”
- The Jetpack resembles something you’d do in platformers such as Super Mario Bros. Or Uncharted
- In one mission, you have to use the jetpack by “launching yourself from glacier to glacier”
You’ll see “a lot of” snow levels. - Everything is more spread out in this game.
- The game looks very complete.
Fucking hell, Sony. Sounds like your secret keepers need a spanking.

Original: Some artwork that looks very Killzone-ish, and is supposedly from Killzone 3 has “leaked” onto the nets.
It was spotted over on Finnish website Konsolifin by AGB.
While Sony has been very coy about everything Killzone 3, there’s reason to hope that the game “may” make an appearance at E3 – especially after Jack Tretton’s statement that GDC was “only the frosting on the cake,” and Sony’s “saving the batter for E3. We will absolutely bring the heat”.
While he never said when it was coming, Tretton did promise Killzone 3 for sometime or another.
We’ll send a mail and ask if this is genuine or not.

Snow, so thats one part of what was heard true.
This was posted on some forums back in march:
“2 days ago I was able to play Killzone 3 behind closed doors in Amsterdam and have to say that it looks crazy.
The graphics are still based on the same engine as its predecessor, but was immensely improved.
While the playable areas of the second part of the series were pretty linear, we can assume that there will be wider areas like those of Battlefield BC 2.
What impressed me the most in the 30 minutes were the snow effects. It just looks fantastic how the snow lays down on the weapon and melts when shooting – and all that in 3D!
To be honest, I was a bit sceptical but KZ3 looks phenomenal in 3D, the explosions, the rain and the snow seem to be so real, that hollywood blockbusters like Avatar pale in comparison.
According to Guerilla each exemplar will be shipped with 2 killzone-styled 3D glasses.
I can’t say anything about the controls, because Sony didn’t show anything about them, but KZ3 is targeted to be played with a generic controller or the Arc.

Nothing happened on the 13th of march so it didnt seem credible but thats looking abit different now.

I don’t see at this scan a little bit of improvement, i see now bad textures on models.
and i don’t remember Killzone 2 to have super graphics. I remember green pallete and good cut scenes and a proper use of Cell Processor with motion. Thats it.
PS: and don’t feed Shifty he is from N4G or something.

I wonder, how they made a game with time less then one year? It’s just raises the question of the quality of that title.
Sure, release date is next year in April, but they already saying that the game is complete.

Because they wanted the mag to have a feature on the game for the month of E3. Not really much they can do if the mag happens to come out before the actual event.
The alternative would be to only show the stuff at their E3 show and only let the media release stuff about it the month after when E3 is done and dusted which isnt a very good deal for monthly paper mags.

Colour me very excited. The whole 3D thing is wasted on me, though.
I will say that the “Will show off the Helghast culture” information makes me happy — the biggest waste of Killzone 2 was how little they explored their own lore for the universe they had built. Graphically, it looks almost identical to Killzone 2, but that’s still not a bad thing. Killzone 2 outstripped every competitor in terms of graphic fidelity…. albeit it kind of wasted with the colour palette. And the fact they say it controls the same makes me even happier! People bitched about it, but I personally enjoyed the weighty feel. Looking forward to the trailer!

@Geki, they made Uncharted 2 for 1 year and 6 months but improvements were just faptastic.
Scans really show the same game if you ask me, maybe in motion it is different, but i don’t see Guerilla making something close to GOTY.
I want to be wrong.

I can’t wait for KZ3. Oh and Sony is doing these supposed leaks on purpose. First LBP2 now KZ3. I mean the Gamepro mag (July issue) will be on store selves June 1 and Sony’s press conference is like two weeks later on the 15th. Think about it.

@19 Engine is not everything. You can also upgrade your engine. But to upgrade engine you need time and serious testing. I really need to see that in motion. They made this pretty quick.

Well its already known that the twisted metal title in the list isn’t happening and i can’t see Mass Effect 3 being at the sony conference, and not sure Fahrenheit 2 would be far eough along to show. Haha love it how Erthazus listed games that will prob be shown at E3 and then Dralen says that half of xbox games are updates, i mean come on both consoles are pretty much like that

After playing few games in 3D on my PC i can’t go back. 3D is absolutely awesome. Even shitty games in 3D (that have no artifacts) looks great.
3D is the absolute future. Soon every TV will have that feature.

Killzone 2 was, if I probably can’t remember playing any more shooters last year, the best shooter of 09 for me.
It had its flaws, yes (Rico = scum), but I loved it.

@TEA, its hardly a leak seeing as Sony probably knew that the mag would be released before their E3 event just like they planned the LBP2 embargo to be lifted well before june.
