Sony Australia's announced that its sold over 850,000 PS3 units in the region.

The latest figures were confirmed as the firm launched the Video Delivery Service in the country this week, with president Michael Ephraim saying it's on target to beat 1 million units by the end of 2010.

Despite that, Sony and Microsoft with Xbox 360 remains behind Wii, with 1.7 million units sold in the region.

PSP go, however, isn't enjoying much success: it's only sold somewhere between 20-25k since its launch last October.

"The handheld space is very crowded and we have to keep in mind that [the PSP Go] was the first device of its kind to launch without packaged goods," Ephraim told Gamespot AU.

He added that Sony intends to perk up PSP go sales by releasing a console and ten free-game download bundle, as well as other promotions.
