Microsoft confirms October worldwide launch for Project Natal

natal2b1

A Microsoft exec in Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Project Natal will launch worldwide this October.

Marketing Manager of E&D at MS Saudi, Syed Bilal Tariq, dropped the news on Saudi TV, with said clip captured by Gamertag Radio. Get it below.

“I do have great news to share with everybody” said Bilal Tariq, “that Project Natal will be launched in Saudi Arabia and in the world somewhere in October.”

But the exec says that a more concrete date will come “after E3″.

“We will be in a position to confirm the date after E3, which is in June. But definitely, it is going to be October 2010.”

Despite a lack of an official date, it does confirm speculation that the device will launch in October. TV presenter Jonathan Ross first outed an October release after getting a personal demo of the motion camera.

Retail listings from Amazon and GAME had also outed a Yoga game for Natal to release in the same period, which added more substance to the targeted release time line.

Very curious how this will work out. If Natal fails because of hardware problems, MS has got a major problem.

Still puzzles me why we still didn’t see in action in a proper way ,but E3 will clear that up.

5 months left until release and we still haven’t seen anything other than riccochet, and even that’s still buggy and laggy.

So what? Iphone 4g will be out in about a few weeks and all we might have seen is a prototype. If natal works, they’ll sell it. Ok iPhone is a bad example I guess, since its the cewlest gadget piece of hardware I’ve ever possesed…

I get the feeling that MOVE will launch just before Natal. It better otherwise SOny could be in trouble.

I’m guessing they’re going to tell us what the real name is at E3, then. It’ll seem weird to not be calling it Natal any more.

Everything gets a proper name post-natal. It will be a relief to go back to pointless arguing about console hardware & which game title is best on which platform, rather than console cameras, in October too.

We should also learn of the pricing & release date for the “slim” Xbox 360/”Natal” & PS3/”Move” (or my favoured name, PlayStation “Co-Motion”) bundles at ‘E3’ too.

BFN,

fp.

PS.Don’t believe everything (anything?) Jonathan Ross says. He said he was sorry for not being funny in October 2008.

Natal’s going to have the definitive version of Just Dance.

I need to see a software lineup or how it works.

I remember last E3 shit demos with Ricochet, elephants, dash board demo, but thats not cool at all. You can do it with PS Eye.

Sony on the other hand showed great demo and not so great software.

@Blerk

“Natal’s going to have the definitive version of Just Dance.”

True, but you can do that with Playstation Eye. I still don’t get it about Natal.

That was just a joke, actually.

But if we’re thinking about it seriously, that ‘full skeleton tracking’ bit of Natal is going to make it possible to track multiple people at the same time, and with all of their various body parts individually. So you’d be able to have a group dance with Natal tracking each player individually and (apparently) not getting confused when Uncle Jeff busts a particularly rad groove and causes Auntie Joyce to trip over Grandad’s breakdance solo.

Erthazus, going by your post history here, I’m afraid that you cannot “get” anything Microsoft does. ;)

I just want to know the official name of the thing. I bet you it will be stupid, something like the 360 Hawk Eye or X-Vision Cam.

They could follow margarine’s example and go with “I can’t believe there’s no controller”. That’d appeal to the soccer moms.

Good thing you don’t work for M$ Blerk or they might have put you in the back closet with J.Allard after that marketing line.
