Rumor: Valkyrie Profile 3 is a PS3 exclusive

Friday, 7 May 2010 15:07 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Rumor has it that Square Enix’s RPG Valkyrie Profile 3 is no longer going to be a multiplatform release, but instead will hit PS3 exclusively.

More is expected to be revealed prior to its E3 debut at the Sony presentation, possibly up to two weeks before the event, reports D’toid.

According to GoFanboy, PSM3 magazine already has the scoop on this, so if you are a subscriber you may want to keep your eyes on your mailbox.

Again, it’s all sitting in Rumorville for now, but enough has been heard about Valkyrie Profile 3 to know that it is at least coming sometime or another, in some way shape or form.

We just don’t know when or or what, yet.

A shame if true, I really liked VP2 and would’ve been interested in another one.

    #1 5 years ago
  2. mington

I hope they make this ten times more user friendly then 2, and explains itself better. I gave up after about 10 hours spending 30mins pissing about on the equip accessories screen isn’t fun, and honestly i didn’t have a clue what was going on half the time

    #2 5 years ago
  3. Gekidami

I’ve only ever played one of these games and i didnt understand a thing. I flew around a world map, did some sort of energy channeling search thing, then watched a cutscene where some person died or something and joined me before returning to the world map and restarting that process.

    #3 5 years ago
  4. mington

Did VC 1 have 2D exploration? i hope they keep the 2D exploring platform/puzzler thang

    #4 5 years ago
  5. DaMan

GoFanboy? they just want some hits. last month they’ve said VP3 is a 360 exclusive, then a rerelease of Breath of Fire is coming out for 360, on a disc.

    #5 5 years ago
  6. mington

I remember the in game cut scenes were so sloooooow, it took everyone 2mins to say one thing, lots of starring off into the distance and polygon pouting

    #6 5 years ago
  7. theevilaires

So buy a PS3 Blerk. WTH man come on get off your ass and just go buy one. Don’t sit there and tell me the price and game library is still an issue with you.

    #7 5 years ago
  8. mington

Yeah i was gonna say, just get a PS3 blerky baby, it’ll feel like the best 250 quid you ever spent when your playing uncharted 2 then rent heavy rain and god of war 3 then buy Valkyria Chronicles its only like 15 quid
    DO IT

    #8 5 years ago
  9. Erthazus

Valkyrie Profile 3 is a PS3 exclusive? yeah, right. I will believe that when i see.

Whats the point for a 3rd party publisher to make an exclusive game now? There are no points and Valkyria Profile is not a system seller.

But i want Valkyrie Profile 3. Really want that.

    #9 5 years ago
  10. DaMan

    here, check this out:

obviously they just want some hits.

    #10 5 years ago
  11. Blerk

I could buy a PS3, there are quite a few games that I’d like now. A Christmas treat, perhaps?

But I already have more games to play than I can count, and I want a new computer more. My laptop’s practically steam-powered.

    #11 5 years ago
  12. Erthazus

@10 the thing is, PSM3 must reveal Super Secret Exclusive title.

And there is a hint with the white feather. Something tells me that this could be true… Or Not.

    #12 5 years ago
  13. theevilaires

For the record the last time Garratt had those post 10,000 comments for a prize giveaways I was posting on behalf of you and Reask. That’s how bad I want to see you on PSN one day.

    #13 5 years ago
  14. Gekidami

PSM3 said that they were going to reveal 2 games and only one was was specifically noted as being a PS3 exclusive. So this could be the other game thats a multiplat.

    #14 5 years ago
  15. Blerk

The wording on that PSM3 page is very ambiguous. It doesn’t actually say “PS3 exclusive reveal” it says “exclusive PS3 reveal”. Twice. Which could just mean the usual “we’ve got first dibs on a multiformat title among the PS3 mags”, which is the trick they all usually play.

So if this is going PS3-exclusive, I don’t think it’s one of the PSM3 games.

    #15 5 years ago
  16. DaMan

what other hints aside from an err, white feather do they have?

and “top secret world exclusive”?? they make it seem VP is some million selling title, it’s a niche game and VP2 sales were on par with those Personas.

    #16 5 years ago
  17. The Hindle

The world exclusive Ps3 reveal was Crysis 2 ps3 hands on and Modnation racers review. VP 3 sounds plausible as an exclusive though as Yoshida said we would be getting more Ps3 exclusives from Japan.

    #17 5 years ago
  18. Blerk

It seems like an odd one to make exclusive, though. Unless it’s an excuse to just never bring it out of Japan.

    #18 5 years ago
  19. Erthazus

@15 you are Sherlock Holmes? :D

The problem is that they are going to reveal 2 games exclusively.

One is a “Exclusive PS3 Reveal”

and a “Second world Exclusive Reveal” and they can’t give hints about it.

So basically, it must be something exclusive to PS3 and exclusive PSM3 magazine reveal.

@16 There is another big hint. There is a drop of blood that is similar to this:

see the emblem color? Thats the color of that drop of blood with the feather.

    #19 5 years ago
  20. DaMan

people see what they want to see.

seems more like that site trying to cover up their last month’s ‘news’.

oh and lol @ tea coming into this thread when he gives absolutely zero shit about the game. sdf out, saf in.

    #20 5 years ago
  21. Erthazus

@20 another one thing what this could be is an Assassins Creed 2:Brotherhood reveal. But thats it.

    #21 5 years ago
  22. DaMan

I’m not going to spend time using my imagination trying to decipher that pic. srsly, this could even be some new game.

and their ASKA framework is multiplat anyway, aside from IU all tri-Ace games went multiplat.

    #22 5 years ago
  23. The Hindle

Andy reiner tweeted we can expect Gameinfomers new cover to be revealed today so maybe it will be one of these Ps3 exclusives. Infamous 2 im betting on.

oh and lol @ tea coming into this thread when he gives absolutely zero shit about the game. sdf out, saf in.

    look, SO5 a Wii exclusive –

    #25 5 years ago
  26. DaMan

you haven’t played either of them. since when were you a fan of tri-Ace really? in fact, the only comments about them posted by you were something about 360 being beta testers for SO4, that’s about it.

oh and, you talk out of the rear end 90% of the time, at least I can actually assume that you never cared for these games.

    #26 5 years ago
  27. theevilaires

How the fuck do you know what I’ve played and haven’t. You’ve been going around these past few weeks starting a lot of shit lately. For your best interest I suggest you put an end to your mad posting before I put you back in your place Xbot.

    #27 5 years ago
  28. DaMan

wah wah, same shitty attempts at sarcasm on the level of 12 years olds, I see. anyone who either isn’t a Sony supporter or fun is a bad xbot :).

I’m more than sure. at least if you played them you would comment on the games, and you never did.. until today that is.

oh, and now that I remember, you’ve said it yourself that you never played any of the older FF games. I find it hard to believe you even knew about something like VP until the gofanboy article.

    #28 5 years ago
  29. theevilaires

Its a RPG. I play many RPG’s. I play every genre of games except sports so please tell me how do you know for a fact I haven’t played a Valkyrie Profile game before. Just because you don’t see me post comments about it does not prove I don’t own or have not played them.

    Kid get a life seriously.

    #29 5 years ago
  30. DaMan

    “Kid get a life seriously.”

well, first of – the way you commented on the recent FF games makes it clear you aren’t exactly the most hardcore jrpg player . I’m totally sure you’ve only played the most well known games, like FF8 or FFX. and no, I don’t think you would never ever said anything about tri-Ace (or VP which is one of the more obscure titles) if you actually spent time with the games.

    #30 5 years ago
  31. DaMan

oh, and to clarify – the point I’ve made is that you again, give considerably more of a shit that PS3 might get an exclusive title, not that the third VP is going to be released. like I said I’m totally sure you ‘ve never ever gave a crap about tri-Ace in general, let alone this franchise.

hence, I’ve made fun of your posts. nobody asked you to reply btw, the “lol @ tea” remark wasn’t really a direct attack or something. you’re arguing because this is your idea of having fun. perhaps it is you who should get a life.

    #31 5 years ago
  32. theevilaires

Ok 1. you are just revealing how much of a big geek you are by referring to the game by its developers.

YOU: Oh you never played a tri-Ace title before. You don’t know anything about being a hardcore JRPG gamer. I fully maxed out all my characters and found every secret item in the game. I’m so much better than you hahahaha!

Dude shut up. its just a game. Go get laid or watch some porn. Btw I’m planning to pick up Resonance of Fate (another tri-Ace title I may add) sometime this week because I saw it on sale for $45. Am I worthy to be accepted in your hardcore JRPG league after I get the platinum trophy sir.

    #32 5 years ago
  33. DaMan

Lol, as expected. you’re as predictable as bdh.

I’m sure you would probably play it, silly. the point is that like I said you don’t really care.

same as before, you’re pulling off the “geek” one, together with a bunch of lies and/or irrelevant insults and a “no u”. and like I said I don’t believe you. if you did, your FF comments would be considerably different.

shut up, and gfto :) . you have nothing to say about these title anyway.

    #33 5 years ago
  34. theevilaires

Ok DaChild I’m happy for your love of tri-Ace games especially Valkyrie Profile (you’re letting your youtube alias be known very easily BTW)

    #34 5 years ago
  35. DaMan

like I said, >nobody<, nobody asked you to reply in the first place. that wasn’t even an attack. for a balanced, rational individual that has a huge life and gets laid more often that he posts on vg247, you give too much of a shit about comments others make.

I’m not registered at youtube :), really.

    #35 5 years ago
  36. DaMan

oh, and I’ll tell you why I started saying all that lately. your comments aren’t funny and they’re fucking distasteful lots of times. if others keep laughing with you, you go overboard. I’m not even trying to offend you, I just got sick of that ;).

    #36 5 years ago
  37. MushroomStamp

Hate to say it, but it’s irrelevant. When is the last time Squeenix has made a good RPG? I’m betting their track record over the last several years will not magically improve with this one.

    #37 5 years ago
  38. DaMan

it’s not their, it’s tri-Ace. the second one was brilliant.

    #38 5 years ago
  39. Gekidami

Tri-Aces track record this gen isnt any better. :S

    #39 5 years ago
  40. DaMan

their games were surely better than TLR and FF13. SO4 did everything I wanted it to gameplay-wise, RoF is considerably better from what I’ve heard (I will be playing it next month myself).

    #40 5 years ago
  41. Erthazus

@40 this generation they are on the same level as the FFXIII

SO4 is a grinding puke in my opinion.

this generation we have serious problems with JRPG.

    #41 5 years ago
  42. DaMan

nah, FF13 might be a better looking game and have an attempt at a plot but the gameplay is a disaster.

at least grinding in SO4 is fun, the battle system works way better. but what they did to it’s plot was atrocious, it makes SO3 look like FF6.

    #42 5 years ago
  43. Erthazus

@42 i think there is no reason to say for both that someone have better graphics or gameplay, both of them are not good at all + i had big expectations about XIII.
Yes, you can have some fun, but it’s more like wasting a time.

God, i wish this generation could end faster. Can’t take this anymore: Weee, we are cool devs and going from SD to HD and we have so much ideas creating masterpieces. Hurray!

    #43 5 years ago
  44. DaMan

I never felt like it’s a waste of time, if anything, the combat was very decent. I thought it didn’t require that much grinding as well, unless you want all those achievements/trophies. I guess you didn’t like TtEoT battles either.

    #44 5 years ago
  45. Galactic_Barret

TteoT was absolute garbage. Its battle system, by far its strongest area, was easily exploitable. Chaining Side kicks was its win button. Everything else was nonsense compounded by tedium.

VP2, though, I found enjoyable. I’m the OCD type that needs to collect everything, master every skill, etc. Adding to that, I love long RPGs, so the accessory collecting increased it substantially.

I care little about TA (Only bought them because of SE), so they need to impress, especially after IU and SO4.

    #45 5 years ago
  46. DaMan

TtEoT had a decent plot, it was simple yet clever. and the game’s design generally was several steps forward for jrpgs. the way dungeons were done, the puzzles, the camera, the npcs interaction. it did lots of things right. the item creation was plenty of fun as well.

I don’t remember it’s battle system being that easily explotable aside from the stun bombs spamming. if you try hard enough, you can exploit any really, I remember when I found how you can get critical hits all the time in the first Shadow Hearts it quickly ruined the difficulty.
