LucasArts loses President, other executives

Seems that abrupt presidential departures are all the rage at LucasArts. First, former President Jim Ward resigned in 2008, and now current President Darrell Rodriguez has turned in his cape and Darth Vader helmet as well.
The news comes from Kotaku, who reports that the exits of Rodriguez and a few other members of LucasArts’ executive team were announced during a recent staff meeting. Development teams and management beyond the publisher’s top level apparently won’t be affected.
We imagine LucasArts will put out an official announcement with more details soon. Until then, though, we guess you’ll just have to wait in breathless suspense while you fret about which pages you’ll have to tear out of your “Executives of LucasArts: Swimsuit Edition” calendar. As if losing the above seductive gray-scale photo of Rodriguez himself wasn’t bad enough!

I hope this doesn’t end in a rethink of stuff like the Monkey Island Special Editions :/

What a mess, Rodriguez was the one good thing to happen to Lucasarts in a very long time, it’s bad news if he & his team has been pushed out.
The morons at the Lucas empire were probably annoyed he wasn’t exploiting Star Wars enough.

Well, that’s unfortunate. Ward was the guy brought back Monkey Island games and acknowledged that there is other games than just LEGO Star Wars.
Hopefully they continue the work with the special editions. I wouldn’t mind seeing a new Jedi Knight or Battlefront being published. In worst case, they just end up milking the cow and developing Star Wars games for children – sigh.
