Gamers are “going to be surprised” with Quantum Theory, says Tecmo boss

Tecmo Koei bossman Yoshiki Sugiyama has said that gamers will be surprised with Quantum Theory, especially if they go into it thinking it’s “just another shooter”.

Speaking in an interview with CVG, Sugiyama said that while the game may share a post-apocalyptic setting with the Gears of War series, that’s the only comparison that’s accurate, as the game itself is unique.

“While the style may share similar traits of a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by hardened warriors it’s the co-operation between our two characters that makes Quantum Theory so unique,” he said.

“The fact you have to physically manipulate this spectacularly acrobatic partner while launching your own assaults makes for an interesting new dynamic – and of course the battle ground is always changing and shifting.

“There’s a living tower at the heart of this story, a fantastical construction that is never as it seems. If gamers assume they know what awaits them, if they assume Quantum Theory is going to be just another shooter, they’re going to be surprised.

Quantum Theory’s out this summer on PS3 and Xbox 360 after missing its March release.

Maybe the marketing and shots haven’t done it justice but it certainly looks like a desperate me-too game so far.

It wouldn’t be the first game ever to totally win over with hands-on time though…
