30fps aimed for Gears of War 3, says Bleszinski

Epic Games lead designer Cliff Bleszinski has revealed it’s aiming for 30fps for Gears of War 3.
He insists that the studio is to go for better graphics then a smoother framerate for the game.
“Our target is, and shall remain, 30fps,” Bleszinski told CVG. “When asked about 60 we always respond that we’d rather have the extra juice to put more on screen and stick with 30″
Yesterday, scans from a Russian magazine had an eight-page feature on the much-anticipated actioner, which mentioned a couple of graphical details for it, include real-time environment changes. Bleszinski soon tweeted, though, that some of the stuff from the mag was “badly translated”.
Gears of War 3 releases on April 8, 2011 for Xbox 360 in Europe, with an April 5 launch in the US.

I hadn’t even realised that Gears was 60fps. I just presumed it was 30.

I don’t think it Gears is 60 fps on Xbox 360.
EDIT: Naah, it isn’t: http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/digital-foundry-gears-of-war-2-standard-def-vs-hd-performance-analysis.

I don’t get how this is interesting news. Gears 1 and 2 were of course both 30 fps. If a new game runs at 60 fps it’s newsworthy, not if one runs at 30 (which is pretty much standard nowadays and – for some genres – even makes sense).
There was a recent news with the same topic on Fallout: New Vegas (“Fallout: New Vegas devs shooting for 30fps on consoles”). Completely pointless. It’s like reporting that PAL Game XY has a black & white manual.

Oh, I see – he’s not saying that the new one will be lower, he’s saying “shut the fuck up” to people whining about it not being 60fps.

Only the PC version of Gears of War runs at 60fps, it makes the game look incredible in motion.

I don’t know why he has to reiterate this. All previous games have been 30 fps.
