Study - 86 percent of developers are "somewhat satisfied" with their job

happy

Game Developer Research has found that developers surveyed for its 2010  Salary Report were generally pleased with their current career.

Of the 2,623 developers surveyed, 86 percent were "somewhat satisfied", 14 percent were not satisfied, and two-thirds said they were "satisfied" or "extremely satisfied."

When asked if whether the game industry is "still a great industry to work in," 88 percent agreed or strongly agreed, and 12 percent disagreed or strongly disagreed.

However, the positive answers were overshadowed a bit by developers still being concerned over the number of jobs available, with 80 percent stating that were less opportunities  in 2010 than the year prior; while 58 percent believe that there are more jobs than before.

Over half of the participants also felt the industry is "gaining momentum", while 45 percent believe it's not.

"The full Game Developer Salary Survey 2005-2010 is now available for purchase from the official Game Developer Research site", per sister-site Gamasutra.
