Call of Duty: Black Ops announced, releases on November 9
Treyarch’s formally taken the wraps off Call of Duty: Black Ops, even including a date for the game of November 9.
So far, only the official site for the game has gone live, with a blog post included to welcome users to the site.
“We at Treyarch are excited to reveal our latest development – Call of Duty: Black Ops! Be sure to head over to CallOfDuty.com/blackops as more details begin to unfold! Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter for the latest news & discussions regarding Black Ops.”
No details on the game itself, other then the title and release date, were revealed.
You can assume, then, that everything from this is real.
The first trailer for Black Ops airs tonight during GTTV.

A part of the game will be set in Vietnam. See the last link up there in the article.
This should be quite interesting online, what with a selection of weapons from WWII till today.

@8: ok then…could be interesting indeed. was just hoping for a real vietnam game with ambushes and wide open jungle enviroments…it sounds interesting though to have wwII missions, post wwII war missions and even more modern missions. multiplayer could indeed become awesome, though i really don´t know how the weapon loadouts will work then. a p90 is definately more powerfull than a thompson…

Maybe the story will transcend 30 years
Maybe there wont be a story, and its just lots of cool mission from different wars
(then how would the competitive multiplayer work)
Maybe there will be NO competitive multiplay, and it will all be co-op based mission and zombies and stuff??? doubtful

Based on the details leaked earlier I’m suddenly very excited for this game. Vietnam would have been cool too, but levels set across 30 years of Cold War could be really excellent if they’ve got a good linking narrative and some decent characters.
The trouble with these more “realistic” shooters is that you just don’t get any good boss fights…
