Farsight dev diary: Move “opens up PS3″ to new range of genres

Brunswick Pro Bowling developer Farsight has said Move will allow PS3 to engage with a whole range of new genres, while saying “optical” motion devices (Wii) simply can’t match the peripheral for versatility.
“It opens up the PS3 to a whole new collection of game genres that really were not workable on it before,” said Farsight president Jay Obernolte, speaking in the video you’ll find below.
He added: “The experience of bowling is totally different in an optical motion mechanic than in the motion mechanic of the PS3 Motion Controller, because when you bowl, you bring your arm back on the back-swing, and how you tilt your wrist during the forward swing of your arm has a lot to do with where the ball’s going to go in the lane.
The amount of hook it gets and the direction of the ball when it leaves your hand are very difficult to get out of an optical mechanic.”
Good job Wii got MotionPlus, eh? Check out the footage here. Move releases in the back-end of this year.

He loves dem Move controllers. He makes some fair comments, but he’s bound to say positive things as its an official Sony video. I do believe that Move has the potential to become the true hardcore gamers choice for motion controls. Natal just hasn’t got the tactile response I know I want.

They’re certainly plugging it, I’ll give them that. They’re making absolutely no progress actually selling it to me, though. Do not want. Still.

They really don’t know how to sell this device. Maybe it’s better, but dev diaries not interesting at all.
