Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 gets first trailer, includes jumping

Tuesday, 20th April 2010 10:03 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Someone’s just posted the first Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 trailer on YouTube ahead of a Captivate 2010 embargo later today.

It shows Mr Commando jumping, and stuff. There’s a fair amount of gameplay in there, so watch quick before it gets yanked. This was announced at Captivate in Hawaii last week, and the embargo doesn’t lift until 4.00pm BST today.

Platforms are listed as PSN and Live.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed, a 2D revamp of the ancient classic, was a good hit for Capcom, moving over 130,000 units in its first week on sale in summer 2008.

The first Rearmed released on PC, but there’s no mention of the sequel heading the same way in the teaser.

Captivate’s proving leakier than an Icelandic volcano: Marvel Vs Capcom 3 has already been trailered and detailed thanks to embargo-breakers.

Watch for interviews and more later on.

Thanks, Blerk.

Doesn’t allowing him to jump completely defeat the unique selling point of these games entirely?

He can’t jump very high at all – it’s just to make the game a little more forgiving, I think. BC:R 1 was tough as nails.

and a jumping ground pound, they’re probably introducing some moves from the 3D game.

For a whole brand new game, jumping is essential

I know it’s pathetic but I just couldn’t play the first one without a jump button, it just completely threw me off rhythm not being able to jump over some barrels.

I will definitely give this a try when the demo comes out. Hopefully they will have some kick-ass remixes of the original 8-bit theme.

I’ve enjoyed the original Rearmed (not that I got very far mind) and I’ll certainly check this out as well.

i hope they’ve changed the hock/swing control, i know they were true to the original, but not being able to contract/extend and begin swinging on command just made the game so much more difficult and unforgiving.

and, being able to contract/extend would allow for different and new puzzles then we’ve seen in Nathans first outing.

at the end of the game there was these two secret cave passage way levels THAT WERE FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE!!!11!!11! and not fun because of it

oh and the top down shooting sections, i hope they expand on that too (you forgot about that didn’t you)

@10 Could be actually both are/were based in Sweden i think? Jumping will change the game a lot i feel though i do think it will make it a lot more accessible to people. Looking forward to this as well as Fatsharks other project Lead and Gold
