Crysis 2 platform teams “always in competition”

Crysis 2 producer Nathan Camarillo has told VG247′s Patrick Garratt that the two separate teams handling the shooter’s PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are racing to create the best SKU.

“We have two really strong internal teams on the programming side working on 360 and PS3 all the time, and they’re always in competition with each other,” said Camarillo, speaking after the reveal of the shooter in New York two weeks ago.

He added that the dev teams would try to one-up each other by getting one version to run better than the other for “a week or two,” before the other raises its game and takes the lead.

“If you think ‘the internet’ are going at each other about this, internally our developers are doing this as well,” Camarillo said. “For a week or two PS3 will look better, then the 360 guys go, ‘No, no, no, we won’t have that,’ and they make the 360 version look and play better.”

He further said: “In the end, fine, go at it. It’s going to make a better game all round for everybody, so we have that internal battle.”

Crysis 2 ships this Holiday season for PS3, 360 and PC. Get our full interview with Nathan Camarillo here.

It’s really is a fun bullshit from Producer. It’s like two fanboy teams playing with each other: Haha, my version is better then yours.

Basically, to make a better PS3 version there must be more people. (To develop for PS3 you need more people anyway) and to make seriously good PS3 version you need to include PS3’s Morphological Anti-Aliasing and thats not going to happen with multiplatform crossover engine. You can make better lightning on PS3, but to make it right you need more time with engine then with Xbox 360.

and i actually don’t believe that there are two different teams working on the separate consoles engine. Thats just a lot of money. The best way to do it, to develop first of all for PS3 then port it to Xbox 360 and make it the same version.

But if they will use every PS3′s 6 CPU with Morphological Anti-Aliasing and use Blu ray capabilities, then PS3 version will be Definitely better.

PS: + Why they can’t make super cool, ultra graphic games compared to Naughty Dogs Uncharted 2 or Santa Monica’s God Of war 3. BECAUSE They are NOT 1st party and 1st party work within Sony’s Top tier engineers, with full budget (as much as they want.)

For a week or two PS3 will look better, then the 360 guys go, ‘No, no, no and sabotage the ps3 version so the xbox version looks better, probably by swaping out the nanosuit for a Mr blobby suit

(when did i become a fan boy? oh right, when my noisebox360 perforated my eardrums)

All game companies should be like that. Because most say, oh lets make Xbox version look the same like PS3, and vice versa. With these developers, same game, and both consoles will be bit different and always taken advantage of the console and what it does best. All game companies should do the same

EA should have been a bit more clever about this. They are speaking too much and not showing enough.

The result is that people are overloaded with Crysis 2 info : They haven’t seen enough footage to get really excited about it (or they don’t care yet because they haven’t played Crysis 1), and yet the developpers are speaking a lot.

true dat, all i’ve seen is Cryengine demo footage (which isn’t even footage of the game) and that one trailer…someone at crytech needs to leak some shaky cam low quality gameplay footage, then at least we’ll have something to look at

What was it they had at PAX East the other weekend? I was under the impression they had both 360 and PS3 Crysis 2 demos on display, but there’s been no leaked footage. Did the internets mislead me? Was that just the aforementioned Cryengine 3 demo?
