StarCraft II given an AO rating in Korea

starcraftii232

The Korean Times has reported that StarCraft II has been given an AO rating in the country.

Apparently, Korea’s Games Rating Board has been getting stricter on violence, naughty language and depictions of drug use.

Previous versions of the game carry ratings making it appropriate for players 12 and up.

Blizzard has 30-days to appeal the rating.

This comes of the heels of the recent Korean pro-gaming league scandal that has many players accused of illegal betting and cheating in StarCraft tournaments.

StarCraft II is expected to get a release date “soon”, according to the recent announcement of the collector’s edition.

Check out a Korean commercial for it through Eurogamer.

That is the most epic “oh snap” moment I’ve heard this year.

This is going to get real ugly, especially if it forces Blizzard to delay the game even further.
