How Infinity Ward job losses have affected MW2′s credits

Want to know how badly the Modern Warfare 2 team’s been hit by walk-outs and sackings at Infinity Ward? Hit the link.
PC Gamer’s dutifully crossed out all the studio’s now defunct names from the shooter’s credits, as seen here.
Two more key staffers, animators Mark Grigsby and Paul Messerly, were confirmed as having left yesterday.
Twelve staff have now either resigned or been fired from the developer in the last month.
The exodus started with the spectacular sacking of studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West on March 2.
West and Zampella have now signed to EA with start-up studio Respawn.

Holy crap, doesn’t look good for the design, story and animation bits of the next IW title!

Cant say i’m surprised only 3 people worked on the audio. The sound in CoD games is utter crap.

Is that the whole credits sequence? Because that’s the shortest one I’ve ever seen – where are the gazillion testers and all the people who made the tea and the thanks to the producer’s dog’s mum?

@Blerk/4 This is only the credits for the infinity ward staff itself, testers would most likely only be hired on a temporary basis so they wouldn’t count as IW staff.
They also cut out all the Activision staff that they have to mention +thank and everything else.
Still yikes both lead animation guys are gone :S
@3 Actually CoD 4 had great audio across the board and both MW2 and CoD4 won awards for their sound as well so…

Activision, like everyone else knows that the industry has a wealth of talent who can build on the foundation of the Call of Duty franchise. West and Zampella are the ones starting over. Activision has the IP and a formula for on of the most successful multiplayer franchises ever. They’ll easily replace the talent. I hope Respawn can replicate the success of Call of Duty.

oh my friend.. how little you know about software development. Talent is NOT easily replaced. REAL Talent should coveted like a star athlete. Throwing in a replacement only gives you the technical aspect. Not the ingenuity/creativity/skills… only the function.

“Not the ingenuity/creativity/skills”
Quiz time!: In what way was the jump from CoD4 to MW2 a display of ingenuity, creativity and skill rather then a concept perfectioned in CoD4 being reused? And why couldnt Acti hire more people to refill the empty spots at IW and have them make another game essentially reusing the mechanics already there?
Seriously, people who think this is, for some reason going to stop Acti from making another IW signed Modern Warfare game that wont sell shit loads need a reality check. The only thing that could stop Acti is if West and Zampella win their lawsuit and become the owners of the Modern Warfare IP, which i really doubt will happen because they’re the ones who breached their contracts in the first place.
