GT5 will be “totally different” than Prologue, says Yamauchi

Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has said that when Gran Turismo 5 is released, it will be “totally different” than GT5: Prologue.

Speaking in the latest edition of PSM3, Yamauchi wanted fans to know that GT5′s “scale and diversity” is much different in comparison.

“Prologue is really only a prologue,” he said. “Though the look and feel of Prologue and the full version will have uniformity, the full version will be totally different in terms of scale and diversity in comparison.”

Earlier in the year, Yamauchi revealed that the game was 90 percent complete, and Sony revealed during its Move event at GDC that GT5 “is coming this year”, which prompted the fella sitting next to us to yell “yeah right” rather loudly.

Yamauchi has also said that GT5 would get Move support “only if it is interesting”.

I’m glad that’s cleared that up

If there’s not a release date at E3…

…it won’t be the end of the world.

No date at GamesCom, though, and it will be.

Talk about dumb things to say. Maybe he should stop wasting valuable cognitions on tautological bullshit and actually finish the game! Preferably before I die..

It’s not really a dumb thing to say though. Most people were expecting GT5 to be just a larger Prologue; just more cars and tracks.

But now there’s night racing, WRC, NASCAR, Super GT, weather, etc. Very few expected all those things would be in GT5.

Seriously? People thought that the full game would just be more of what the ‘demo’ had, with nothing new to add? Seriously?

GT4 didn’t add any new features over GT4P, except more cars and tracks. No-one was expecting anything different for GT5.

It’s probably because they’ve added all the new stuff I’ve mentioned as to why the game is horribly overdue, even by PD standards.

But since no other racing game will have what GT5 will have, we should be damn grateful.

    Sack races?

you could customize you sack and give it killa grafixs and a spoiler

…i wonder what a donkey would look like with a body kit

I’m rarely grateful for a game. As far as I’m concerned, the lead time on this game cannot justify any kind of positive expectation. It’s a GAME, not the second coming.

I know Physics and AI will be improved, I hope for SOUND as well. PD is know for best looking car models ever in a PC/Video game!!! Yet somehow they always fuck up with sound!

@ Stephany: is that really the best picture you could find? Just saying. You do good work though so I’ll look past it this time.
