Karen Traviss announced as Gears of War 3 writer

Gears 32

It's been announced that novelist Karen Traviss has been chosen as the main writer on Gears of War 3.

Traviss is a sci-fi writer who has worked on Star Wars books, but has also worked on several of the spin-off novels from the Gears universe.

The game's lead designer Cliff Bleszinski made the announcement in an interview with Meristation.

"She has a very, very good way of getting inside these characters heads from a novelist's kind of standpoint. She really understands who they are, and she's going to really be doing a good job of breathing life into these characters as well as the new ones."

Gears of War 3 was announced earlier this morning on US TV. It'll release on April 8, 2011 in the UK, with a US release on April 5, 2011.

The first trailer for it was also released today, which you can get here.
