Gears 3: Rod Fergusson apparently confirms four-way co-op

gearsofwar3

This thread over on the Epic forums is claiming that IP boss Rod Fergusson has confirmed the newly-announced Gears of War 3 will contain four-player co-op.

According to the post, the revelation was made in an IRC chat.

"Rod confirmed four-player co-op in the Gears IRC, with four unique characters," said the poster, which has pulled together everything known about the trilogy finale so far.

"Rod confirmed that co-op includes Marcus, Dom, Cole, Baird and a 'variety of other characters'."

The game is apparently set 18 months after Gears of War 2, and after the fourth Gears of War book.

The location shown in the "Ashes to Ashes" trailer released this morning is nicknamed 'Char', where the remains of victims from the Hammer of Dawn strikes are present, Pompeii-style.

Epic confirmed Gears of War 3 for an April 8 release this morning.

It's unlikely this info's bogus, but we'll fire off an email to Epic now, just to confirm.
