Rumor: Gears 3 has reworked cover system, underwater missions

gears

A source close to Edge has revealed that a reworked cover system and underwater missions will be present in Gears of War 3 when it's released.

According to the source, the game will also feature "Locust foes with tentacle-like appendages" which extend into player's cover spots.

It was also revealed that COG members of Delta Squad are to be equipped with explosives that "can travel beneath the ground to take out enemy cover positions" and the game will feature a mech suit that COGs use for both protection and combat.

But wait, there's more, apparently.

The game's set during the summertime and features underwater locations.

No word if Marcus will be equipped with a torpedo launching Speedo or not, but we can always hope.

Back in March, the same source also told Edge that the game was down for release in April 2011.

Hopefully, Cliff Bleszinski's appearance on Jimmy Fallon next Monday will reveal a bit more.

Until then, this bit of news is stuck in Rumorville.
