Halo movie to be made “when the time is right,” says 343
343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor has revealed that a Halo movie will eventually be made, but only when “the time is right”.
Speaking during the MI6 conference in San Francisco last week, O’Connor revealed that it makes sense to do one, at least financially.
“We’re going to make a movie when the time is right,” he said. “We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically.
“We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything.
“It also changes our target and age demographic.”
The movie was officially put on hold last year in order to focus on Reach and ODST.
However, thanks to Halo: Reach, it will only be a matter of time before one is made, said Bungie.
Wonder if they could get Spielberg and Jackson back on the project, then.

Jackson already said hell no thats when he gave the project to the director of District 9. Then the money fell out and now the director of District 9 said that Halo’s time has passed for him.

Oh its hard to read sarcasm through text. ANd I am so used to seeing Halo boys clamoring for Peter Jackson or Spielberg.

If/when they do a Halo movie, I would *hope* they’d at least ask Alex Seropian in for a consultation. Otherwise it’d be as if Ridley Scott never brought Philip K Dick in to check out Blade Runner (which he did).

It’s all corporate spin really. The deal fell through, fox and universal (I think) diden’t want the project so it was canned.
Has nothing to do with “foccusing” on the games. And they can’t just do it “when ever we want”.

Tetris movie.
And Freek is right. MS were asking for money upfront, a massive budget, and a good part of the profits. Fox and Universal pulled out because of that. Then rumours came about the MS would finance the movie themselves before it was canned completely.
