Iwata: Zelda team feeling graphical pressure from Monster Hunter Tri

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed through the latest Iwata Asks feature that the Zelda team is a bit of pressure from the graphical standard Monster Hunter Tri has set.

Speaking with Capcom’s Kaname Fujioka and Ryozo Tsujimoto, Iwata said that the game is proof that developers can create nice looking games for Wii if the effort is made.

“Nintendo’s staff have been galvanized by Capcom. I can tell they feel like you did what they hadn’t yet,” said Iwata. “Besides, the enthusiasm you put into it is apparent in the graphics.

“Looking at the graphics objectively, I feel like the game’s visuals are one of the representative examples of what can ultimately be done with Wii.

“I think it has placed the Zelda team under a considerable amount of pressure.”

Tri’s producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, replied that the graphical quality of the game was intended from the onset.

“The first project planning document that we wrote said, “Let’s make the best graphics ever seen on the Wii console,” he replied.

Monster Hunter Tri’s out for Wii on April 23 and will include free online play.

What?! Is he fucking kidding? I hate Nintendo so much now. Just shut the fuck up and make a next gen Zelda on more powerful hardware.

Just out of interest, what does everyone think is the graphical pinnacle of the Wii. For me its Mario Galaxy…. is that an outdated opinion?

Nope. I think that is correct.

In terms of art design, though, Madworld wipes it.

Dumb thing to say, really.

And yeah, Galaxy is the best looking Wii game IMO.

Bollocks to Monster Hunter, Zelda Team – if you make another “sort of realistic” Zelda instead of going back to that fucking brilliant Wind Waker look and feel, I swear to God I’ll personally rip all of your nipples off.
