MW2 "the game to beat", says DICE

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 producer Patrick Bach has told Xbox 360 World that the shooter "to beat" is, quite naturally, Modern Warfare 2.

Speaking to the mag (via CVG) in an interview, Bach said the Infinity Ward opus was the one DICE was eying up on.

"No. Both were developed very much in parallel, with no lead platform," Bach said when asked if both single-player and multiplayer were done together or separately, as with MW2.

"Our idea is that the single-player should be almost like a tutorial for multiplayer, and vice versa. Modern Warfare 2 is the class leader, the game to beat but not to replicate. We wanted to write our own songs, so to speak."

Bach also said that EA's other big modern shooter Medal of Honor - with DICE doing multiplayer for it - won't scare off Bad Company 2 or any of the firm's other shooters in development.

"We won't alter our products simply because EA has another project in the same genre. We're owned by EA but we're still very much DICE."

A free DLC content update for Bad Company 2 dropped last week, which featured a new map pack for anyone with a VIP code with the game. It launched the same day Infinity Ward dropped the first DLC for MW2.
