Sony removes OS options with PS3 upgrade

ps3linux

Sony’s released PS3 Firmware 3.21, removing the option to use other operating systems on the machine.

Yep, that means no more Linux, Linux fans.

The updates removes the option from the older “phat” PS3 consoles, and is mandatory. You can salute your poor little penguin now.

Sony said this week that it had taken the decision to nuke Linux from PS3 thanks to “security concerns”.

Just installed it. It doesn’t effect me but I still think it’s a big step back in general. Instead of just fixing the security issues they remove an entire feature.

Pity they couldn’t of packed it in with feature enhancements.

@1 You can’t fix it because if you can install Linux, then you have an option to install OS.

They did right thing.

Sony clubs penguins. The shits.

To be fair I was just looking for someone to make the DVD player multi region through it, that would be a nice present Sony. Please?
