Platinum’s Vanquish suits up with new screens

vanquish

Platinum’s released yet more screens of futuristic actioner Vanquish, showing the protagonist’s ARS suit in all its dashing glory. We really wish they hadn’t called it “ARS”.

Get the shots over at AGB.

The game takes place on America’s “51st state”, known as Providence, which is actually a space colony.

A Russian resistance group has performed an American coup and destroyed San Francisco – as seen in the debut trailer. The outfit has demanded unconditional surrender from the US, otherwise it will destroy New York.

This is where main character Sam Burns comes in. With his ARS suit. There’s more detail here.

It’s out for 360 and PS3 this year, manned by RE legend Shinji Mikami. Has to be good, right?

I thought I’d only seen them in OPM before. Apologies if they’ve already been online.

It looks rather Mass Effecty, which is no bad thing.

Again, US fighting Russia and this time Russia destroyed US part of the city and our hero going to kick ass with his guns killing Russians.

Stupid bullshit!

The US vs. Russia story is pretty played out. As an American I’m also sick of it. But it’s pretty funny that a Japanese developer chose this story. The thing is, if it’s in space, couldn’t it have been ANYONE? Even fictional entities. Or hell, let’s play as the Russians.

Indeed, they’re taking so many liberties with the technology and setting i really dont see the reason in using the dated ‘US Vs. Russia’ plot point.
