More Vanquish details spill from Famitsu

Famitsu's revealed more details on the back-story that leads into Vanquish's main plot of Americans vs Ruskies.

The game takes place on America's "51st state" known as Providence, which is actually a space colony. As mentioned before, it was created to provide solar power to the US, with any energy stored coming down to Earth in doses.

However, a Russian resistance group has performed an American coup and destroyed San Francisco - as seen in the debut trailer. The outfit has demanded unconditional surrender from the US, otherwise it will destroy New York.

This is where main character Sam Burns comes in. He was already en route to the Providence colony to test out his new combat suit "ARS" [God - Ed], but has also been given secret orders from the US government. What those are hasn't been disclosed.

His new suit allows him to boost to enemy soldiers in a flash, or dash through waves of bullets.

Earlier this week, Sega announced Vanquish would release this coming winter for PS3 and 360 in Europe. Previously, the time-frame was only for Japan.
