DICE doesn't "ever want to charge for maps", says producer

BFBC2

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 producer Patrick Bach has told Xbox World 360 magazine that if it had its way, DICE would never charge for maps.

"We don't ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together," said Bach (via CVG). "We're owned by EA but we're still very much DICE."

Bach also revealed that there's "generous" amounts of DLC planned for BFBC2.

That's good news.

When contacted by Joystiq, a DICE rep told the site that "unless they aren't standard maps we won't charge and there aren't any in the plan that would cost."

EA wouldn't go into specifics on the comment stating only:

"We can't comment on the future. But we'll have more details on our DLC plans shortly."

Hopefully we'll hear soon just what this "generous amount" of DLC entails.
