Penny Arcade confirms end of Adventures series

pennyarcade4

Penny Arcade co-founder Mike Krahulik has said there will be no more games in the Penny Arcade Adventures series.

Speaking at PAX East over the weekend, Krahulik said to Joystiq: “We’re actually not making a third episode of the game.”

Developer of the two titles released from 2008, Hothead, are currently working on DeathSpank for EA, and while it could have been possible for the studio to do that and Episode 3 of Adventures, fellow PA co-founder Jerry Holkins said it would have “suffered”.

“They definitely could’ve done both games. I think they could’ve made DeathSpank and Episode 3 but I think Episode 3 would’ve suffered. I mean, I know it would have suffered. So we’d rather not do it than do it half-assed and so we’re going to finish that story but it’s going to be on our website.”

The two games in the series released on Xbox Live Arcade, PC and PSN.

This is why I hate serialised story in games, you never know when they’re going to just dump the series and not finish what they’ve started e.g. Shenmue and PoP 2008

“The first two didn’t make any money and they were steadfastly average games at best, just as we’re steadfastly average comedians”
