Splinter Cell: Conviction gets leaked launch trailer

splintercelconvictiona5

Someone is probably going to get their P45 in the morning: the launch trailer for Splinter Cell: Conviction has leaked.

You can get it below, thanks to AGB.

The audio/video isn’t quite synced up, but who cares: it’s Splinter Cell. You should not think about thinking about watching this trailer. It’s even got a bit of Johnny Cash in it too, so just do it.

The game’s due to release on 360 on April 16 in the UK, with a US release on April 13. The PC version got was due to be out on the same day, but got a little slip to April 29 in the UK.

The demo is now live on Marketplace, if you still remain unconvinced. You can find the latest development diary for it here.

Good trailer, shame about the gameplay, the DRM and the demise into mediocrity of Ubisoft

Not very pretty is it. Is the game using the same engine as Assassins Creed? Because characters models look just as bad.

Visuals are mediocracy at best. I mean, really.

It runs on Unreal Engine 3.

I think it’s the texture resolution that’s the problem. Not sure why the textures look so blurred but the 360 can do better. The demo runs sub-HD too, although I can’t see a good reason why.

Does anyone know if the game still has scenes with Sam walking around in broad daylight using large crowds for cover? That might justify a drop in resolution and the need for lower-res textures. I’m assuming that stuff was dropped as I’ve not seen or heard about it since the early screenshots were shown.

Looking around it apparently uses a modded version of the Unreal Engine 2, not the third.

Yep, it’s based on UE2.5, by based I mean it’s the engine they built on, so it’s still their own engine but they started off with UE2.5, same as the Infinity Ward engine is based on the Quake 3 Team Arena engine.

The PC version has heinous DRM and probably poorly ported controls. To play Double Agent on my pc I had to use a wired 360 pad, Ubisoft don’t do very good console to PC ports at all.
