Actor who played Wallace in Half Life 2 has died

Breen HL2

Robert Culp, the actor who played the antagonist Wallace Breen in Half Life 2, has died at the age of 79.

Culp died after falling on a sidewalk in a park in Los Angeles, although it’s unknown if that was the cause of death.

He’ll mostly be remembered for his TV and movie work, but it was Half Life 2 that made him famous with gamers.

Culp’s role was as the overseer of City 17 in Half Life 2, Dr Wallace Breen, having previously been the administrator of the Black Mesa facility from Half Life 1.

He saved humanity from being exterminated by the Combine before the events of Half Life 2, but managed to broker a deal which seen the human race survive, but on terms of enslavery.

Culp is survived by his wife, five children and five grandchildren.

Thanks, Kotaku.

RIP. I remember him really from TV but he supplied great voice work as Breem, pity his politely menacing tones won’t be gracing the game Universe again.

That’s sad. I know Stolen Pixels has a running gag with Breen as a character always trying to get Valve to put him into the next Half Life game, http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/7329-Stolen-Pixels-179-Breen-Interviews-Chell
