Video – The Secret World teaser from GDC

Tuesday, 23 March 2010 14:18 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

thesecretworld1

Funcom was kind enough to show us The Secret World at GDC, and you can get a taste of what we saw via the teaser video below the break.

It’s definitely a interesting premise, and a massive undertaking for Funcom. While it may seem a bit strange to have all these different denizens from our nightmares and horror films walking around in an MMO, there is a method to the developer’s madness.

Although what that is, they refused to tell us. Funcom is saving that as part of the plot that eventually unfolds as you play the game.

No date yet, so just continue to hang tight. Meanwhile, watch the teaser, and check out screens and what we saw during the opening sequence here.

I don’t have a hard time keeping up with you. You post nonsense all the time and back it up with a youtube video or a link which cites no source itself. You contradict yourself at every turn and you honestly think that people are plotting against you and fellow PC gamers. It’s easy to try and blame some secret order from turning the world against you, it’s an easy boogie man to sell to people who just can’t understand that the people in charge of your country, my country and every other country and just stupid and greedy. The world is falling apart because we don’t know how to run it, not because someone is working behind the scenes to rebuild it in their own designs. It’s just a fantasy people concocted because they can not handle reality.

You’re a master of your own destiny. Stop taking what other people say as gospel and discover the world yourself, connect to your local community, get to know the people who live like you and by you. You’ll be happy, safe and be able to move on with your life.

I’m sure BDH isn’t really as much of an idiot as it makes out.
I reckon it’s all an act to make us think he’s nothing more than a special case with a keyboard that has all the keys in the wrong place.
If that is the case, he must be the most intelligent person that ever lived to keep this pretence up so long.

    #12 5 years ago
  13. blackdreamhunk

pppfff you people can barely keep up with…must of the time you have no proof. Your looking at guy who has even made professors look bad. You know for very statement I make I can back it up with facts. I am in truth and truth is my best friend.

however if you say to me you can’t handle the truth I will under stand. Why because it is true that a lot of people can’t handle the truth.

just to add to this comment there is many people like me who believe in the same things…… do really think I am the only one. One does not have to look far on the net to point that out.

  25. Gheritt White

@20: Well, if you follow some through some of links listed by BDH you do find an awful lot of anti-Semitic commentary.

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion were a fabrication written to justify and encourage pogroms against Jews in Russia in the latter part of the nineteenth century – that BDH would support them as real is supremely distasteful, IMHO.

    #25 5 years ago
  26. blackdreamhunk

I thought he was talking about drawing.

    EDIT: @BDH
Everyone can keep up with you. But your terrible spelling and poor grammar make it almost impossible to understand what the hell you’re saying 99% of the time.

I think you’ll find the person you were talking about was Darwin, not Drawin.
And everyone believed in Darwin, I mean, the guy existed. Hard not to believe in that.
It was his theory of evolution that people either do or do not believe in.

  32. Gheritt White

@ BDH: Well, you proclaim your belief in the NWO and use those links to serve as the basis for your claims – what was I meant to think? We also already know you’re a strong Christian… go on, admit it. You’d like to massacre the Jews, wouldn’t you?

It’s okay, I feel the same way sometimes, especially with Passover around the corner… a four hour dinner with family (incl. prayers) is *not* my idea of a fun way to spend Monday night.

    #32 5 years ago
  33. PolyGoneWithTheWind

Think it was communism borrowing from Spencer, who coined the thought that Darwin has been associated with. Ironically, both communism and fascism both borrowed from the work to justify their politick.

I really can’t believe I have got sucked into this :-)

BDH, with all due respect I’m really not about to take in lessons on my heritage from you, given that we’ve never met face-to-face. No offence, but after having studied the Bible (yes, all of it), Theology and spending 10 months in the “holy” land, I sincerely doubt you’ve much new to offer.

    @Gheritt White

Not everyone gets to talk to god. Not everyone who says lord lord will meet god on the kind side.In fact I will say to you that god does not show himself to a lot people. For some people god is only myth. For some people god shows himself almost every day to them. You really can’t talk about things you have no idea about.

do you know when comes to god their is a lot of lairs and lies. If you have study the bible then You should study history too as well.

for everything done under the sun there is reason.

    #49 5 years ago
  50. Gheritt White

Well, studying history is part and parcel of Theology. Of course, there are two types of history – that which is recorded and that of the archaeological record. That is to say, what actually happened (and when) versus what ended up getting codified, edited, redacted, re-edited and eventually mass produced.

@ Hunam: How can you not eat bacon? It’s waaay too yummy. Even if i believed in any of that shite, bacon is well worth going to hell for… if Jews believed in hell… which we don’t… or, at least, didn’t until Christianity came along and put such an emphasis on the after life… which was probably just a reaction to all the different religions that came into Hellenistic Judea with Imperial Rome and it s troops… blah blah blah

    #50 5 years ago
  51. Michael O’Connor

“If you have study the bible then You should study history too as well.”

Yes, you should. Then you might realise that the religion you study is nothing more than an off-shot of previous, older beliefs. The only uneducated one here is you.

  54. Gheritt White

The funny thing about all this NWO bollocks is that in that Loose Change video documentary, they correctly state that the Ancient Egyptian religion is the basis for the main three monotheistic religions – they do, however, skimp on much of the detail.

What they incorrectly claim is some kind of “guiding hand” principle – that all of these myriad fuck ups were according to some kind of divine plan, only mortal and man-made. Sadly, this isn’t true – but it would be nice to think that we were capable of such amazing foresight as to plot the course of events 3000 + years in advance.

I didn’t prove any point, you retarded dumbass. Try actually discussing something for once.

  63. Blerk

My brain absolutely cannot accept that BDH is real. Surely he has to be someone fucking with us all for larks? Surely? The alternative just doesn’t compute in any way shape or form. :-D

    #63 5 years ago
  64. Gekidami

    “How, exactly?”

Giant list of bullshit youtube links and spelling errors obviously.

Indeed Blerk. It just dosnt seem possible for someone to be so dumb without doing it purely on purpose.

  67. Michael O’Connor

“Giant list of bullshit youtube links and spelling errors obviously.”

I was very, very tempted to suggest that…

“see i told you things I know you will have a hard time handle it. It just not time for you yet.”

That makes absolutely no sense. You asked me to prove it, and I asked you how you want me to do so, and then you avoided answering. How about you actually discuss it instead of constantly avoiding shit, you retarded little moron?

    #67 5 years ago
  68. Mauller

“For some people god shows himself almost every day to them.”

I can’t wait for BDH to post an autographed picture of himself standing next to God. Or a picture of burnt toast. Whatever really.

“there are also things you might not be ready to under stand.”

Just like you are not ready to understand the English language. Or the finer points of debate really.

    #68 5 years ago
  69. blackdreamhunk

    @Michael O’Connor

number 1 did you even look at my links? the fact reminds you people are way too slow…. you people have hot air trying to debate with me.

How do you want me to prove it?

    #71 5 years ago
  72. blackdreamhunk

    @Michael O’Connor

Why oh why can’t someone get the ban hammer out on BDH?
I feel my frustration boiling when I read his posts, but thankfully everyone else’s comments calm me down.

this coming from you…. you really think you can debate with me……last time checked you are full of hot air and have little no proof at all. In fact your nothing more than a console fanboy that has no proof must of time

  80. Michael O’Connor

“So I am asking you to prove it…”

I asked you how *you* would like *me* to show that to you. Suggest a manner in which I can do so.

    “sorry I am done debating”

ok maybe links, you have videos or maybe write and essay or something. If you feel that this topic is way too big here. give some book to read…how is that to start.

Seriously, me, a console fanboy? I don’t think so somehow.
I’d never get by without my PC. Couldn’t live without it and built it myself.

At no point BDH have you ever posted proof or fact.
You’ve merely posted other people’s opinions, pretty much citing them as your own. Opinions aren’t fact unless proven, and you have proven nothing.

Last time I checked, I wasn’t even debating anything with you here anyway.
I don’t need to prove you are an idiot, you do that for me.

    #91 5 years ago
