BioWare joins the website countdown craze

countdown

BioWare has posted a countdown timer on its official website, pointing for it to end in five-days and counting.

Whatever could it be?  The announcement of new DLC for Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age?  The reveal of a new game or more on Star Wars: The Old Republic?

Your guess is as good as ours.

The countdown appears on three sites: Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, and the official one linked above.

SWTOR does not have a countdown timer. Bummer.

The clock is set to stop at noon, EST on Monday. Hopefully the net will not explode before then.

Cue that famous song from the band Europe now.

Thanks, The Lost Gamer.

Europe is a great band! A shame the only song known is the final countdown, europe’s other songs are great too!

More DLC that lasts 20 minutes and costs three times more than it should?

I could easily sacrifice going to fast food place for week to buy Bioware DLC. People complain about the smallest thing.

It’s Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2, obviously.

Unlikely as Microsoft has a contract with EA for Mass Effect.

When the buy out happen EA and Microsoft got together to iron out what to do with Mass Effect. EA signed a contract making Mass Effect exclusive to Xbox. Not only that Microsoft owns the rights to the first Mass Effect.

@9

I enjoyed RTO. Its what you expect for 5$

No it’s not. I expected at least a couple of hours of pure gameplay. They need to sack off all the cutscene crap and just make DLC gameplay based. A big dungeon to crawl for example. Maybe a tower to climb. Some big area to explore. No voice actors, no cinematics, just fun.

Like the infamous Pinnacle Station? =P

I know, a bad example, but I thought especially Dragon Age was really about the story and the universe rather than fighting evil enemies of pentagon.

@ 10 How does M$ own the rights to Mass Effect when they only published it. Do I need to bring Ninja Gaiden into this.

They own the publishing rights of the first one. They gave Bioware the money to develope the Mass Effect along with most of their other console games like Jade Empire.

Nah, i don’t believe it’s a PS3 anouncement for Mass Effect at all, sure..nice for the folks who only have a PS3 but i definitely expect and hope it’s something else.

PB is right – BioWare were still a (semi-)independent studio throughout the development and publishing of ME1.

Tbh, not having ME1 on PS3 is no great loss – if I were you, TEA, I’d hold out hope for a combined ME2 and ME3 Blu-ray special edition.

Most likely DLC announcement DAO 2 or Mass Effect 3 is best saved for E3.

Is it not obvious that they’re counting down to an announcement which will state more DLC details for Mass Effect and Dragon Age will be unveiled at E3? There’s a small chance it might be a vague teaser trailer but my money’s still on an announcement of an announcement.

Why would suddenly do a countdown thing for something so simple? That’s not really BioWare’s style.

Aren’t they working on an unannounced title? I imagine there’s a very high chance that it could be that.
