Ubisoft has posted a developer diary for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands that focuses on the Wii version of the action/adventure title.

Posted over on Eurogamer Germany, in it, the devs talk about how it was built specifically from the ground up for Wii.

It looks rather nice, and if you are more interested in the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360 version, a video for that was released on March 8.

The game is slated for May 18 and 20 in the US and Europe, respectively, and the Wii version will ship with the original Prince of Persia game.

PC’ers will have to wait until June.

A**holes aside, Forgotten Sands Wii looks pretty promising.

As all action games for Wii look in trailers.
It’s when you actually play them that you realize things are not exactly as perfect as shown in the trailer.

Hmmmm, collectible orbs everywhere, coloured plates that do different things when you activate them, a beam that shows you the path to take… there’s a lot of elements from the PoP reboot in there. Even the platforming looks similar.

Obviously this is the “exclusive” Wii version, but if the PC/360/PS3 version is similar I have to wonder if they hijacked a sequel to the PoP reboot and quickly pasted in a Sands of Time-style Prince? That would explain how they’re suddenly able to have a complete game ready in time for the summer. Christmas 2010 would have been about right timing wise for a sequel to the reboot too…
