Sony explains why it chose to call its controller Move

Sony has explained why it chose to call its motion controller Move instead of the rumored Arc or Gem.
Apparently, there’s a rumor going ’round that Microsoft had already trademarked the name Arc – for something – and Move was a last minute change. However, Sony, says Move was chosen because it “conveyed” what the controller stood for – moving.
“It’s great – everyone’s so interested in how our company names products,” Sony VP Scott Rohde told IndustryGamers. “It’s like at any other company, everyone dumps in their ideas and you’ve got agencies out there coming up with names.
“At the end of the day, we really felt that Move conveyed what the controller is all about. It’s a word that the smallest kid understands, and it’s a really good name. I’m happy with it.”
Guess that means they didn’t just throw ideas into a hand and reach in and pick one.
Move was revealed as the controllers name at GDC last week, and it’s slated for release in the fall.
There will be 20 first-party games released for it this year and 36 third-parties are on board.
Thanks, VideoGamer.

The Colour changes with the background of wherever your playin, so if you have a yellow background it would choose another colour so it can connect with the playstation eye better. Well thats what i heard

The harder to squeeze the trigger on the dongle the ball turns purple

@Yoshi, so you’re suggesting the ball changes colour depending on where you shove it? Pink(front), Brown(back), Red(front once a month)

Yep. Definitely. Well, either that, or they took a focus group of the target demographic, handed out sheets of paper with “Gem,” “Move,” and “Arc” on it, and told them to check one and leave comments in the space provided.

Some of the ideas they have for it are actually pretty spiffy. I liked that whole “lose weight and hurt people ingame” at the same time thing. Way more fun than the aerobics bullshit you get on the Wii. You can’t kill anyone with aerobics. Well, at least not in any fun way.
… Unless of course you just step on and off their heads for a good 15 minutes. That’s actually alright, I stand corrected.
The name is still ridiculous though.
