Analyst: Lack of Twilight games have cost “millions” in lost revenue

Games Investor Consulting analyst Nick Gibson has told MCV that not having a game adaptation of the Twilight series has cost “millions” in lost opportunities for revenue.
Seriously.
“Given how hot a property it is, [a Twilight video game] could easily present a seven-figure exploitation opportunity, especially if publishers consider taking it beyond retail gaming and considers network gaming,” he told MCV.
“It may well be that the rights holders aren’t aware of the potential benefits as they haven’t explored the games market before. It’s not unheard of – although it is increasingly unusual in this day and age.
“Given the demographic Twilight appeals to, there probably isn’t a huge crossover between them and Xbox 360 or PS3 fans. The brand’s appeal could actually extend significantly beyond the expected teen girl market and into the 20- to 30-year-old female market, which has a very substantial crossover into gaming.
“There’s a greater resonance with Wii and DS users.”
No comment on this from us.
A Twilight Scene It? game from Konami hits today, so at least there is a game of sorts out there for the gals to squeal and swoon over.

@5 But Jacob turns into a Wolf – so I think both would count in Bella’s case. It’s all a bit icky though honestly.

The only way this game would sell was if it was a porn game… But who’d want to see a wolf f***k a vampire????

Games can devalue a franchise pretty massively where a mug or a t-shirt can’t. I can see why companies don’t make games for every film.

I just threw up in my mouth.
Ps: do you ever sit in a bathtub full of water and turn the shower on? it feels like you are on a sinking submarine.

Can we have a Twilight game where Simon Belmont turns up and whips the entire cast to death?

Well…that’s one way of looking at it.
A fuller telling would be “the lack of any imaginable game concept involving vampires that would resonate with female gamers not interested in beating hundreds of lycanthropes to death but rather staring longingly at them has ‘cost’ the industry millions of dollars.”
I mean, I realize they’re breaking new markets all the time now, but what the hell are they supposed to make for Twilight, a man-candy slideshow? Leisure Suit Lacy goes to Transylvania?

The most baffling thing about all this is the relation to bestiality and zoophilia, since we’re talking about a mystical shapeshifting creature here. To attribute real world words to such a scenario seems silly at best, especially since both words assume a creature which cannot offer consent.
It’s kind of like arguing whether sex with a Dragon is bestiality or not, and then getting stuck in the quagmire of whether it’s a thinking Dragon or a feral Dragon. It’s amusingly stupid, but still kind of stupid nonetheless.

You’re not supposed to intellectualise it. It’s called “taking the piss out of something”.

“We can’t make more money out of a differing media than we already do out of the primary media. It’s not fair… we want more money!!!”
It would have to have an option to create your own character. As long as the girl had a face like a foot and the male had a face like knackered play-Doh, the fans will be fine.
