Splinter Cell: Conviction demo sneaks onto Live

splintercellconviction6

Ubisoft’s put live the demo for Splinter Cell: Conviction on Xbox Live Marketplace – as promised.

The demo weighs in at just about 1Gb. Go get that download on here.

As for you PC kids, go cry and hug each other: no demo for you.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is due out on Xbox 360 and PC on April 13 in the US, April 14 in mainland Europe and April 16 in the UK.

Thanks, TheDutchSlayer.

There’s a little-known land mass to the East of the UK called Mainland Europe.

Any idea what date its due out there?! :P

Set up a different profile on your xbox and then either use one of the 3 free months you get on each or get a 48 hour live trial code from tinterwebz and then download it and play it. Init.

Mike: April 15th.
Release dates are set up as this:
US: Tuesdays
EU: Thursdays
UK: Fridays

Except if its Valve, because then everyone get it at the same time. <3

Blur beta codes are currently giving you 48 hours of free Gold if you can still find one of those. No idea if that’ll let you download demos, though.

I thought 48 hour codes were for online gaming only, no other gold features. Worth a try I spose.

Yep, just redeemed my Blur 48 hour code and the demo is still ‘Gold Exclusive’.

Wake me up in a week.

I’ve just read there’s some screen tearing, and the demo really short

I won’t give any spoilers (if you can in a demo?!), but its pretty good. Not your typical Splinter Cell I don’t think, feels different, more of a next gen game, much more so than Double Agent.

Shooting is great, reminds me a bit of Uncharted, especially with the cover. Sneaking is good, very much how Sam Fisher usually does, and it feels pretty good solid in general.

Im only using a half decent HD monitor at the moment, so it did seem a little dark, especially in night vision, but that’s just my screen.

Solid game, though.

After playing the demo here’s my impressions:

Gameplay is fluid,
Graphics are variable, at some points they seem average (look at the distant DC at the start of the game for example, or at that scene where the two antagonist are talking) but at other points, along with the lightning, they seem pretty nice,
I played in normal, and maybe this demo level was meant to be dumbed down, but the AI is a “bit” crappy. Enemies die 3 meters away from each other and sometimes they don’t even notice, even when they return to their initial patrol position and see a dead body.

I think it’s a solid game. The controls work nice and it’s fluid to get in and out of cover and techniques like hand take down or mark and execute are nice and overall shooting is good. The graphics could need some tweaking but they don’t take away the experience. The AI should be reworked.

About the screen tearing that only happens at the very begining for a couple of seconds during a panning.

Considering how long the game was in development, either the story is amazing and everything gets better and better as we play the game, or it will fall short, assuming it maintains the level of the demo. It’s good, but it could be great with some improvements.

sounds like every Splinter cell game.

Maybe you get board and use the camera to peek under the door, or turn on the next to useless heat ray vision. Maybe throw a sticky camera on a room your in, so you can view the room through your stick camera that you just placed on the wall.

But my guess is you stay crouched while walking slowly through a mission killing everyone with a silence gun or choke hold to avoid any alarms.
