THQ and 4A announced today on the official Facebook page for Metro 2033 that production has started on DLC for the game.

Looks like the “wait and see” approach didn’t take so long after all.

According to the post, a Title Update went live for Metro 2033 on Xbox 360 to allow the game to accept DLC further down the line.

“With the game now finished, we have been turning our thoughts to potential DLC,” read the post. “We’ve got some ideas, but nothing we can talk about right now other than to say it won’t be new single player narrative content, ‘missing levels’ or anything like that – it’s something we’re only just starting production on.

“And no, it’s not multiplayer. That would be very cool, but sadly not possible.”

The Title Update also added a new Weapon Select system tailored to the 360 pad, changing it from the typical PC set-up. Feedback from players stated that a more “console-friendly system” would work better, and the devs listened.

There was also an in-game brightness setting added in the update.

Metro 2033 was released in the US yesterday, and is out this Friday in the UK.

Thanks, IncGamers.

    @1

    Wont happen.

    I played the first 30 mins its interesting my only gripes are the characters have really thick accents so much so I turned on Subs. I understand they are in Russia but if I can’t understand whats going there is no point in playing right?

    Another thing is when trying to listen to a character talk to you in a station, you can barely hear them because everyone around you seems to be talking louder.

    And third no gun butting button when shit is attacking me below the knees or up in my face, I like to hit it with my gun so I can push it off then shoot it in the face.

    Other than those its pretty good, I am liking it so far.

    Surely coop would be out of place in a game like this.

    @Phoenix

    Sounds like the actual gameplay was an after-thought.

    Good not great my ass, i love the game. I absolutely don’t understand these nitpicking reviews. It doesn’t happen often that we get such a special game. IGN always asskisses the ‘big’ games like MW2. Giving 9′s for its graphics when Metro in terms of graphics,atmosphere and animations kicks MW2′s ass.

    Atmosphere, yeah….that is amazing in this game. Not many games have it like that. Graphics are awesome, full of little details and the lighting effects are incredibly impressive. Nice mix of different environments and a good story as well. Metro 2033 has made shooters fun for me again, calling this one a shooter is almost a insult to the game really.

    I do agree that most, if not all of the negative comments that I’ve seen for this so far seem to be a bit nit picky.

    I’m still interested in this, but I’d prefer to try it first…

    They should do a demo.

    Metacritic can go suck somewhere else. Its a Russian game. What can you expect from the reviewers that can’t judge it right? That don’t understand it? Russian review sites such as AG or Igromania scores it for 9 and 10.

    Game is absolutely incredible, especially on the PC. Its great, not GOTY because its a niche game such as Heavy Rain but i enjoy it so much.
    Beautiful ideas with flashlight and e.t.c. Its a masterpiece.

    The difference between an average of 8 and 9 is…?

  10. Moonwalker1982

    IGN gave it a 7,5. That’s just…wrong, simply wrong. Especially considering what they give to other games.
    Fuck reviews though, i never let it decide my purchase.

    ah, Metro 2033. impressed that they finished it. I remember them starting the development in 2005, as a PS3 game, then all that massive damage and real time weapon change happened..

    decent title I guess. not my style though, maybe if it was a sandbox game I’d play.
