Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC patch to drop today

DICE has announced a patch for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 that was due to drop yesterday will now release today.
The reason why it never came out previous was due to the developer finding some serious bugs with the update, such as game crashing. But now it’s fixed and when the patch does decide to show, you can resume to your normal schedule.
The game released at the start of the month and was, until Final Fantasy XIII yesterday, the fastest-selling title in the UK this year for PS3, 360 and PC.
Thanks, Big Download.

Hopefully now all the servers will be able to enable punkbuster and get rid of all the people who changed their ini files to cheat. The cheating was starting to ruin it.

HURRAY!
Has been a lot better for the last week but all improvement is welcome.
I just hope they fix the changing keys issues as I’ve gotta use the defaults at the moment and also the UAV/helipchopper y-axis problem.

It’s sad to see DICE boast about their auto-updater and still release patches this slow. It’s always been this way with Battlefield games. The patches take forever to get released. Not to mention they have consoles to worry about now, this is just going to be nightmare. . It took them what a week+ to fix the EA server issues. I was a expecting ONE amazing patch waiting this long… Nope, we get this mediocre one that will probably break the game even more. GG

@3 As with any game, client side tweaks that are not checked by the server, can give an unfair advantage. There was a guy on a server I was on last night who came on asking if changes to the ini were ok to play on that server, (they said it wasn’t obviously) and the only way he could be killed was by explosions. Bullets wouldn’t damage him. He ended up with a kills:deaths ratio of 50:1. Along with being able to change the FOV as you say, as I consider that cheating as well. If pb had been on I would hope that this would have stopped him changing anything. Just a shame admins don’t kick obvious people like this.

Well thanks for posting the link. Doesn’t seem like the pb init failure thing is fixed yet so I guess the servers will remain with pb off. Wish they’d fix the filters in the server browser to actually filter the search results properly. If you select show pb servers only, it shows all servers, not just those with pb on them. It amazes me how these major bugs don’t get ironed out in beta testing.

As I was saying to Len the other night, server browser technology seems to have gone backwards in the last 10 years. The orginal Gamespy and then All Seeing Eye were so much better than this rubbish.

Your so right, I’d forgotten all about All Seeing Eye, that was a great app.
Why on earth they also can’t show you the servers as they drop in whilst searching is beyond me.
Grumble, grumble…lets play1

Hopefully now my screen will stop going black and my character will stop spinning ultra-fast every time I enter a server until I restart the game. It’s pretty amazing to leave bugs like that in a game this highly publicized.
Cheaters ruin games, but I have a hard time knowing when I’m being paranoid and when it’s legit when there’s no killcam. In CoD you can easily spot an aimbot at work.
