Moody THQ shooter Metro 2033 is now open for pre-load on Steam.

If you've bought the game through the service, you'll be able to download it now. The PC version releases tomorrow.

Pre-wind for the new IP has been building nicely. Latest footage showed some excellent horror sequences, although THQ warned off seeing the title as straight genre in a subsequent interview.

“Metro has horror elements, but it’s not a ‘horror’ game,” said producer Huw Beynon.

“I hope when people finally get their hands on it they’ll see it’s greater than the sum of its parts. And there are a lot of parts.”

The game is based on a post-apocalyptic Russian novel of the same name, written by author Dmitry Glukhovsky.

It's out on PC and 360 on March 16 in the US and Germany, March 18 in Australia and March 19 in the rest of the world.
