Crackdown 2 dated for July 9 in UK

Crackdown 22

It’s official, Agents: Crackdown 2 releases on July 9 in the UK.

Ruffian’s also released the first ViDoc for the game.

It brings to an end speculation as to when the game would come out. A summer release was first mentioned by Microsoft in an NPD response, when the report mentioned a June release.

That report – and a further one from last month – was listed as incorrect.

The game was announced last year at E3 at Microsoft’s press conference.

Find the ViDoc below with the PR.

Justice Returns to Pacific City with the Launch of “Crackdown 2” in July

Video documentary series provides an inside look at this summer’s most explosive blockbuster

LONDON – Monday 15 March – Pacific City needs your help, agents. A new enemy has overrun the city and it’s time to restore law and order by any means necessary when “Crackdown 2” releases this July around the world. Microsoft and Ruffian Games today announced that the exhilarating, open-world action game will hit the streets on 9 July.

Developed by Ruffian Games exclusively for Xbox 360, “Crackdown 2” is the sequel to the award-winning 2007 title, “Crackdown.” Offering cutting edge gameplay, “Crackdown 2” will take multiplayer gaming to unprecedented heights, providing you and your friends with complete freedom to explore, destroy, and play your way as you restore justice to Pacific City.

To celebrate the road to launch, Ruffian Games invites fans to step into the world of “Crackdown 2” in the first video documentary, titled “Fun with Friends,” from a three-part series exploring different facets of the game.

“Fun with Friends” features interviews with Ruffian Games Creative Director Billy Thomson, Lead Producer James Cope, Senior Engineer David Hynd and Senior Mission Designer Dean Smith as they discuss what it takes to design a living, breathing sandbox world with the most gripping multiplayer experiences yet, including 16-player PVP and 4-player co-op. The video documentary also shines a light on some of the extraordinary antics and mayhem that players can look forward to, including Renegade Orbs and the PVP mode called Rocket Tag, when they bring their personal brand of justice to Pacific City.

Microsoft seem to be hushing this under the carpet.

That seems like a good date. I need to pick up the first one tomorrow.

Of all the XBox 360 software coming out this year, I’m most excited for this game. It’s gonna be a helluva lot of fun!

About the only title in the 360′s exclusives line-up (bar Fable 3) that I have absolutely any interest in. Looking awesome.

See, this is what you call, ‘releasing games throughout the year instead of packing the holiday season’, Good on yer Microsoft, you just made the summer a bit less bare. Sure wish Sony were conducting themselves in similar fashion this year (i.e. stopping the show after GoW3 comes out and waiting until the end of the year to release anything else).

That is unless The Last Guardian gets a surprise release date of late summer at E3 or something.

“This is what you call, ‘releasing games throughout the year instead of packing the holiday season’.”

Or as its really called: ‘Releasing a game you have low expectations for durring a time with little competition’.

I’m pretty sure that Microsoft have high expectations for CD2…

Have you paid any attention to this year at all? Nearly every major christmas release was pushed back into the new year simply to avoid the crowded market… and this has inadvertently proven to the entire industry that games can sell millions regardless of when they are released.

What he meant is that compared to Alan Wake, Halo Reach, and Fable 3, CD 2 has hardly recieved the same attention those games have had.

It is looking like Microsofts weakest game in thier exclusives for this year.

I also highly doubt CD 2 will get the same levels of commercial and critical success those other games will recieve either.

On the flip side, it’s a new team using currently existing tech, the game was probably about a quarter of the cost of Wake/Reach/Fable to develop.

Everyone thought the first Crackdown was ‘sent to die’ as well and look what happened to that!

Crackdown is officially fucking brilliant. If Crackdown 2′s just ‘as good as’ the first one then it’ll be a blast.

if you remember the first crack down was bundled withe the halo 3 beta, surprised they didn’t do it with halo reach.

I found the first fun but very shallow.
