Shovelware for Move is “obviously a concern”, says SCEA

Sony WWS VP in the US, Scott Rhode, has said shovelware software for PlayStation Move is a big “concern”.
But speaking with Joystiq, the exec says it’s pretty much going to be a non-concern at launch.
“It’s obviously a concern of ours as well,” said Rhode. “But, we’ve taken advantage of the fact that it is a PS3. Sports Champions, for example, has been in development for a while. We’re not announcing it yet, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the scope that’s offered in that title.
“These are not just one-off, ‘hey, play table tennis for fun.’ There’s an overall objective that crosses over all the different events in that title, and there’s a lot of long-term play value in there.”
Earlier this week, Sony announced the name of the motion controller, as well showed off new games for it. More on the controller is to come at E3. Catch up on this week’s announcement here.

Thats good to hear. Sony never disappoints with the software and i hope that at E3 they can show really great stuff.

I don’t know why but I get the feeling that PS3 won’t just have shovelware games quickly knocked out. PS3 owners have become acustomed to stellar visuals and gameplay so I think devs will need to spend decent time making games that are up to scratch. I for one won’t buy mini game compilations as I want something with a bit more longevity. Nintendo promissed so much but delivered so little (in my books anyway). I really hope Sony don’t go the same way. I’m sure they won’t and I for one am very, very excited about the future of PS3 gaming.

You severely over-estimate the amount of thought the average console owner puts into their gaming system.

At least we know Sony themselves wont churn out shovelware.
Can’t vouch for third parties though.
