Naughty Dog: Uncharted PSP would be “fantastic”

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has told Joystiq it would be “fantastic” to see an Uncharted game on PSP.

Speaking to the site, the exec said they’d prefer if a third-party did development on it, although ND themselves wouldn’t have any qualms in developing it.

“I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system,” said Wells. “”Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone thing and I think we could do that pretty easily. If we can find a partner to work with, I’d love to do that … we definitely wouldn’t do it ourselves.

“We’re trying to just focus on the PS3 technology and platform right now.

“But, if we can’t find a partner, then maybe we’re going to have to find a budget ourselves.”

Naughty Dog won five awards last night at the Game Developers Choice Awards for Uncharted 2, including Game of the Year.

I’ve played a few acton/shooters on PSP and none of them have really worked. MGSPO was a right pain in the arm at times and Resistance was just a giant autoaim system that removed any challenge. Don’t really see how it’d work at all.

Indeed, the lack of 2 anlogues plagues the genre on PSP, free camera movement/aiming just feels awkward.

Hell yea, they even have the story for it already. That motion comic Eye of something in the PS store. Lets go Naughty Dog lets show these low class third party devs how a real game is suppose to be made!

ND would probably make a wicked PSP game I’m sure!

Theres no chance ND themselves would make it, it would get passed onto some other dev, probably a third party one like Chains Of Olympus was (which was actually an awesome game).

@7 They will if Sony will say them to do it.

Still, it would be nice to see what talent powerhouse ND could produce themselves on the PSP.

Yeah they would definitely have to alter the gameplay a bit without a second analogue stick for aiming, but I don’t think it would be too bad.

When in cover the single stick can be used for aiming and when out of cover it could control a bit like GoldenEye on the N64 where you hold R to aim. The AI would have to be dumbed down a bit to compensate, but it shouldn’t be too big a compromise.
