First online Metro 2033 score is 9/10

4A Game's novel-based shooter has taken a high score from its first online review, with Xbox World 360 (or CVG, or whatever) giving it 9/10.

The piece does point out, however, that the "shooting" is the game's Achilles heel.

"The chief issue, though, is... the shooting - and it's this black mark which stops Metro 2033 from challenging the absolute best FPS titles on the 360," says the review.

Don't despair, though. It's "a problem you soon learn to forgive, and by the time you're a few levels in, the iffy fighting hardly harms the other features at all."

Phew. The game's out next Friday.

We interviewed Dmitry Glukhovsky recently, the author of the hugely successful Russian novel, to get some insight into the post-apocalyptic actioner: get that here.
