Crytek shows off Crysis 2 for first time at GDC

crysis2

Crytek’s shown off Crysis 2 for the first time at GDC, showing how CryEngine 3 could be used in games.

Nothing from the shooter’s story is shown, bar a cut-scene at the end, just showing off some of the features for the tech.

It’s off-screen, but you’d have still have to say it looks like amazing stuff.

It was recently given a Q3 release by EA, so you’re looking at an October-December release for the game on PS3, 360 and PC.

Thanks, AGB.

After playing Crysis 1 on my PC, without anti aliasing and Depth of field and other Direct X 10 effects and textures looks just as any multiplatform game or even worse then Uncharted 2 for example.

I see a medium settings at best. Nothing special. Facial animation on the PC version of Cryengine 3 is the same from CryEngine 2.

Its already 2010 and it looks like a 2007 year game to me. Nothing special at all and progressive AI in Cryengine seriously sucks actually. They were dumb at Crysis 1.

I so hope Cryengine 3 ends the ubiquity of Unreal Engine 3. It seems so much more powerful an engine, it’ll be almost like getting a fresh gen of consoles.

Well, I don’t know about the PC, but that looked pretty darned impressive for a console. Especially from a multi-platform engine.

Watched in HD on GT and one thing I did notice, the PC versions looked a lot sharper, less fuzzy and more detailed.

There’d be something desperately wrong if it didn’t! :-D

well the console features r a joke. OMG PHYSICS OMG! lol. but the last part, the PC part, was awesome. human face detail is off the charts as usual. i wonder why they’ve chosen to show the PC version of that part of the game!? ;p

They’re showing that it’s an integrated solution, endgame – it provides all those things whereas with other engines you may have to buy in a physics solution, etc.
