That would help explain Pratcher’s very high cost predictions for the Arc. I hope it’s true though. Holding the DS3 in one hand and the Arc in the other does not sound comfortable.

@13 it might well be. I love LBP but I wouldn’t see it as bad so long as Dualshock was also supported.

Drawing objects, adding stuff, etc. would actually be easier in edit mode with Arc than dualshock. Imagine just pointing right in the middle of a wheel and saying ‘add motor bolt there’ or drawing a nice, wavy line to make into a solid… could work very well.

That’s good news. I’m actually looking forward to both Arc and Natal and a nunchuck accessory is certainly a big improvement over the ‘use half of your dualshock’ method used in the Resident Evil 5 demonstration.

As for costs, I don’t think it’s going to be cheap, but maybe Sony could get a Wii Play-esque bundle out at launch that includes all of the hardware (camera, remote and nunchuck) and some simple game for around the £60-£70 mark?

makes sense. price issues aside, having similar controls would mean a lot of developers would be tempted to bring Wii titles over, and could result in Natal suffering from ‘PS3 syndrome’ in being the odd one out to develop for vs Wii/PS3 for motion control based games.

My guess is that they’ll keep the base unit of the ARC remote and camera as cheap as possible. They’ll then sell the nunchuck deice separately, with a disgustingly fat mark up to help off-set the small profit they make on the ARC deice itself. They’ll comfortably be able to say that anyone who doesn’t want a nunchuck doesn’t need one, as they can use the DS3 along side the ARC instead.

Went in GAME yesterday and was pretty shocked to discover that the RRP for a Wiimote (with MP) and nunchuk is indeed above £70 – £54.99 for a black remote with MotionPlus and £17.99 for a nunchuk.

How much does a “full” Wiimote cost these days? RRP is over £70. (Wiimote £33, Nunchuck £18, WMP £25 = £76). Bundles will keep the initial one off camera costs down and then you are looking at Wand + Chuk.

As the DualShock 3 RPP is £39.99, I fail to see how a bundle of all three components (if they are indeed three) could cost less than that…

A Wii-mote was what? £30 when they first came out,a nunchuk was £15 or £20 i think,and the eye camera is about £20-£25. Hopefully the cost of ARC and nunchuk is much cheaper,and i hope they bundle all 3 together for a reduced price.
