Battlefield: Bad Company 2 becomes fastest selling game of 2010 in UK

badcompany2

Gfk-Chart Track’s announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has become the fastest selling title in the UK this year so far.

Specific figures weren’t released by the firm, but the EA DICE shooter has outsold the original BC by 3:1.

It becomes a part of the list of games which had fantastic launches earlier in the year, including Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2 and Alien vs Predator

The game took the number one spot from Sony’s Heavy Rain in the recently released charts this morning, with the 360 SKU being the biggest selling version of the shooter with 53 percent.

PS3 and PC sold 31 percent and 16 percent respectively.

16% PC sales?

I’d query those amounts, OK it’s only anecdotal evidence but the servers are feckin rammed and pretty much everyone on my Steam friends list has the game.

That grab at the top looks seriously impressive. So tempted to pick it up, but Q1 is just so rammed. Can’t tear myself away from Heavy Rain anyway.

This is UK only and I don’t think the PC sales included download services.

I’d say there’s a fair bit more then that, but Chart-Track only covers retail copies and not downloads.

Steam and any online sales wont be counted, mostly because they refuse to give the information.

Lets hope they use all that money to fix the bugs and get the game working properly. At the moment it’s hit and miss if you can get on a server, and even less likely to be able to get on one you actually choose to play on.

I havnt noticed any bugs, just the EA servers need to be fixed.

The ratio split between 360/PS3 seems in line for FPS in UK. PC will have sold more though via Steam, etc. so extrapolating a bit it looks like it probably sold pretty well in relation to the consoles.

LOL look like DICE be very bad with math
16% it is very high for PC, but anyway much worst when PS3 and Xbox 360, another PC port fail

Fastest selling game of 2010?
In March?
Still got 9 months to go.

It’s like saying ‘xxxxxx is the best movie of the year!’
In March.

Perhaps more meaningful than “fastest selling game of 2010 so far” is “best ever launch for any game released this early in the year”.

Well if you want to be picky its not like that at all as there is a quantifier of ‘so far’ in the statement and as such there is nothing factually incorrect about it as it IS the fastest selling game of 2010 so far, whether another game sells quicker is neither here nor there as it hasn’t happened yet.

@7 I guess you haven’t played the PC version then. Or you have been very very lucky.

It’s also annoying how, once the EA servers go down or are busy, you can’t even set up a personal server and bypass EA’s. So you can’t play any mp at all.

If you’re considering purchasing Battlefield: Bad Company 2….DON’T DO IT!!!! I’ve spent as much time trying to get into a game as I have actually playing. To add to that; when I do get into a game, I often get booted and lose all of my kills/achievements/ etc. I’ve been a loyal customer to the Battlefield brand and even pre-ordered BC2. What a huge waste of $60. Modern Warefare has never given me this kind of issue. I just can’t believe that they weren’t prepared for this. I can understand if they have server problems here and there………but come on….this is beyond ridiculous. Be warned!!! and warn everyone you know.( I’m posting this exact same warning everywhere I can.) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the ultimate excersise in futility!!!!!

What format you playing on, smoothcatflash?

Edit: You mentioned achievements, so I’m guessing 360? I’ve had none of these problems either, and if this was a common occurrence, then I would expect far more of an outcry about it by now.

I’ve had a couple of problems on the 360 Euro version. Mainly Saturday night. Been mainly fine since then. A few squad issues.

“I just can’t believe that they weren’t prepared for this.”

I can’t believe you thought EA *would* be prepared for launch weekend. They have a terrible track record.
