Oof, the 360 version really got a beating from Digital Foundry. The PS3 is undoubtedly the better looking version, for those still wondering.

Anyone wondering why there ain’t no US reviews, they’re going live in respective timezones, depending on the site is based.

So don’t expect 1UP’s or GT’s review until 8am GMT.

As for IGN US, don’t go looking for theirs. They’re not even doing theirs until Monday.

Assuming Ign are waiting till Monday so they can think of more reasons to give it a stupidly high score?

Nope. They’re blaming the APOCALYPS3.

Right, I’m off to bed.

When the East Coast goes live with their reviews, I’ll bump this up to the top when me and Pat come on in the morning and add in the second wave for East and West Coast US reviews.

That said, if there’s any more reviews out there, comment them please. I’ll add them in the morning. :D

“Better than I expected from RPGSite.”

We try to stick to a more average centric scoring system and not rate too much over the top. I’m actually surprised it didn’t score *higher* myself.

They don’t have the 360 version up for review yet due to SEnix apparently never sent them the 360 version in time for it to be published on the last issue.

1. Playstation 3: Final Fantasy XIII (2010) 85
Square Enix

2. Xbox 360: Final Fantasy XIII (2010) 87
Square Enix

On Metacritic… riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! Especially when Playstation 3 version is much better. MS money on the train. Playing dirty.

Its Edge the same people who give Heavy Rain a 7. They have as much credabilty as Gamesradar.

Edge would say that 5/10 screams ‘average’ rather than ‘rubbish’. That won’t stop the internet melting down, though.

the reviewer loves the combat and the world

dislikes the cliched characters

and hates the 25 hour long tutorial

I would rather ask an assistant in WHSmith to recommend me a game, than take any notice of a review by Edge.

Hindle, you are very wrong. unlike other sites, that give the game a 8 if it’s mediocre, they have a proper score system – 5 is average, 7 is good, 9 is excellent.

“Its Edge the same people who give Heavy Rain a 7. They have as much credabilty as Gamesradar.”

Yes, because a professional industry magazine with professional writers and professional standards is the same as a website whose idea of a high quality article is “The Ten Best Breasts in Gaming”.

You’ve actually just managed to improve my opinion of Gamesradar. Before you said that I was under the impression that they’d done nothing of worth. :D

Were the ten best breasts individual ones or pairs? Are we talking about ten ladies or just five? This is important.

You raise a good point. Some breasts are better than others.

And I thought, when the rumors were spreading of a 20 hour tutorial, people were embellishing the length for effect. It turns out they might have been rounding down.

@Erthazus: That’s probably due to the official or dedicated Xbox publications not scoring the PS3 version at all.

Pfft Edge give Killzone 2 a 7 saying its generic yet give Halo ODST a 9 which was a £40 expansion pack. They opinions contradict all the time. The ten best breasts in gaming was a class article ill let you know :)

The Hindle: EDGE employ writers and other staff (probably change with some regularity, and have-per platform specialists as well, I believe), and ‘the bar’, and tastes alter with time, too. Considering some research in to the circumstance of each review, and its writer might alter your perspective.

I imagine that “ensuring every current review aligns in noticeable aspects with each before it” is fairly low priority on a to-do list prior to submitting copy to the editor before deadline.

@38 – actually if you take professional criticism seriously that should be fairly high on the list. If it’s low, your editorial standards aren’t good enough.

The EDGE review is funny though in a way, no doubt the focus of many a heated forum.

I don’t remember a single review of ODST that was lower than 8 (out of the major sites).

I personaly don’t take account Edge’s reviews and especially when it comes to the FF franchise. They gave X a 6 which i pretty much enjoyed and for me it was like an 8.5-9

@36 well they were spot on with KZ2. I like their reviews because they seem to yank the “fanboyism” out of their reviews which I appreciate.

I agree with most of their reviews.. including Heavy Rain being a 7.. cuz after I finished it.. that’s all i felt it was worth.

Fanboyism sucks

I think they just give purposefully low scores for attention TBH. Sometimes, I get the impression of a 8/9 from a review, which then ends up with a 6.

Edge are just stuck up imo

I’d stay clear from that if I was you, though. Some of their reviews from other games have had pretty big spoilers in them recently.
