Valve confirms Mac is in its future with pics

valvemac

Valve has announced its plan, sort of, to support games on Mac, according to a release from Doug Lombardi which stated that some images were released “in anticipation of an upcoming announcement from Valve”.

Confirming it through some fabulous references to Apple ads, along with homages to the Mac and PC commercials featuring Justin Long and John Hodgman as turrets from Portal and Team Fortress 2.

No word yet on Steam support, but Mac bits have been in found in the code of a recent Steam Beta.

A formal announcement will likely occur next week at GDC if not before then.

Add all this to the Portal stuff flying around and it looks like Valve fans have something to be happy about.

Check out the pics through Macnn.

Whats awesome is these ads, but whats weird is… Steam on iPod maybe?

Why is there an iPod ad reference?

That’d be… Cool. Ish.

Probably because the “I” stuff is what Apple is known best for. Most people dont really give a shit about Mac’s, unless they’re secretaries. Also there arent any funny Mac ads to parody.

The ‘Im a PC’ one is Mac ad parody.

Indeed, i didnt click through the link, just thought that was the only picture. So yeah, they’ve just picked a handful of ads and parodied them, i doubt one being an iPod ad means anything special.

A few more … http://www.9to5mac.com/valve-steam-coming-to-mac-343984639

I suspect that we’ll get a steam for Mac soon, with 3-5 games at the start. How knows really. But native Mac gaming on Steam would up not only Mac sales but also those of the games too, as Portal etc are pretty casual playing so people don’t have to be hardcore gamers to get into them (eg. don’t need a hardcore rig)
