Something "major" happening at GAME and GameStation stores this morning

VG247 has learnt that all Game and Gamestation stores were told on Friday they would be opening half an hour later today as the result of a staff meeting this morning at 9.00am GMT.

The content of the meeting is unknown as yet, but, obviously, the news has caused an anxious reaction among staff. One described it as a "major" event, although it could just be a recap on last week's closure news.

The group announced last Friday that it's to close 43 of its stores and drop 247 jobs.

GAME will see 12 stores closed, premises that'll be joined by six GameStation shops and 25 Debenhams concessions.

The move was made after a rough Christmas retail period for the company, with sales down by 18 percent.

We'll keep you updated as we get word from the meeting.
