DSi’s Hidden 3D Image: There It Is! game looks neat

hidden3dimagethereitis

Nintendo’s put out a video for its downloadable DSiWare game Rittai Kakushi e Attakoreda (Hidden 3D Image: There It Is!).

The video shows how the game measures the position and trajectory of the DSi’s camera to create a 3D diorama inside the dual screens. Moving the handheld around, the player can view areas that were previously hidden.

The game is for Japan only at this point, but it sure looks rather cool.

Watch below the break.

Thanks, That VideoGame Blog.

In order for TVs to be 3D without having glasses, all they need to be is either couple feet DEEP, OR, they need a camera system in front of it.. but when you watch tv you really do not move around as much.

Steph: I will admit it’s actually kinda cool to look at.

Since when did the DS have tilt sensitivity? Or am I missing something?

@MoC

It uses the DSi’s camera somehow.

Presumably the camera focuses on one point in front of it and the camera in the game that gets rotated accordingly. That’s how I would do it anyway. :)

wow just like the johnny chung lee tech demo. Love to see a full game running like this but i’m not sure ds has the power, perhaps we’ll see other puzzlers emerge?

Yes, possibly. I don’t have clue about these things. :)

That’s a really cool use of the camera. Reminds me of how blowing on the DS mic was a really unique idea (before it got over-used by every game out there).

Wow, if more games like this came out I would definately have a reason to upgrade from my DS Lite to a DSi
