Report – Microsoft to market Natal with celebrity endorsements

Saturday, 27th February 2010 22:37 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

According to a report over on MCV, when Natal is launched on the market, Microsoft plans to use celebrity endorsements along the same lines Nintendo used with DS.

You know- those commercials with Beyonce and Lisa Kudrow?

Apparently, this week, MS invited an “elite selection of media” and non-games firms to attend a VIP showcase, in an effort to use these markets to court Wii’s core audience.

Furthermore, the site claims that the company plans to post coverage in non-games media like Vogue and Glamour – which hopefully does not mean a barrage of fitness titles.

Now remember, Aaron Greenberg said that MS would be very careful with what is put on the market for Natal – but he never said anything about it never getting a fitness title.

We aren’t saying that either, but when you are flirting with ladies magazines, it kind of makes you worry a bit.

Now i understand what Microsoft wants to make with new generation… They want to make a Wii version at 8th gen thats for 100%

and i think we will see stupid fitness games and stupid casual shit. But what bothers me… that if Sony will make great games with its Arc and games will not sell AGAIN… that will be a disaster for Sony and for gamers…

Arc is the hardcore gamers choice of motion controls then. I don’t know that for a fact, I’m just saying it to be contoversial ;-)

We’ll see about that at E3 when the games for each get shown. But right now it does look like MS is really aiming Natal at the casual crowd more then anything.

If you buy a product based on celebrity endorsements then you are a, well, I want to put this nicely, but I just can’t…if you buy a product based totally on a celebrity’s endorsement, then you are a FOOKING IDIOT and need to be culled from the herd and made a Eunuch so you never ever reproduce again….

Of course Celeb’s will endorse KNOW WHY…they get it FOR FREE…and paid on top of that…WOW this article steams my clams….now I have to go take a stress break..thanks VG247

Phony is terrible at marketing. This is genius, just like nintendo did.

Although knowing MS, they will probably miss the point spectacularly and make some cringy wortyhy add that will make them a target for mockery.
As has been the case with past “celeb” and “lifestyle” MS adds.
