New God of War III GTTV footage shits bed

I’m sold… I was MEH… About everything on God Of war 3 until i saw THIS.

this is some real motherfucking shit. I can’t understand how they made this on the Outdated hardware like PS3… I think its not anymore about hardware, its all about talent.

Its just looks not gorgeous, its a massive scale.

Seeing stuff like this on PS3 time and time again; you do start to realise that the 360 and its Unreal engine games look painfully dated these days (yes even Mass Effect 2′s environments look stale and lifeless to my eyes.. great game tho’).

I have to agree; On PS3 the bar seems to get raised with each exclusive whilst on 360 theres abit of a visual standstill. None of the upcoming 360 exclusives really seem to be pushing the package anymore.

Of course, Mass Effect 2 has a fully-controllable camera. Part of the reason God of War has always looked so stunning (even on the PS2) is because you’re basically in a corridor, not a world. They might do an excellent job of making you think otherwise, but you get the scale and the detail at the expense of freedom.

This looks the business, though. Can’t imagine it’ll be anything other than excellent.

Blerk, I loved Mass Effect 2 as a game. I don’t want to bag on it really. The environments had nice art but at the same time were very stale and had no interactivity really, no physics, nothing movable, breakable (apart from those crates) no damage, no dynamic light… just nice art.

It also lacked any big set pieces in the combat part… you know like Gears would show you a building coming down or something fly by etc. while you were fighting.

Again, it was a fantastic game but I guess what I’m trying to say is that you can see the limitations of the (Unreal) engine… Batman (another great game) suffered the same problem IMO.

I wasn’t really talking about Mass Effect anyway, just pointing out that part of the reason why GoW has always looked so much better than everything else around is because it’s actually very clever in tricking you into thinking it’s doing more than it really is.

Edit: Which doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome! DON’T START ON ME!

God of War has always looked better than all its imitators aswell though, even recently look at Dante’s Inferno.

It’s cool, I understand what you meant and yes I agree with you on that. You can do a lot more when it’s more or less a cut scene no A.I. predicatble camera etc.

I have actually played about 2 missions of KZ2 Robo.
Good game OK and does look pretty nice.
But I mean compared to this footage I don’t know.

That looks very good, indeed. I think I’ll skip the older build demo and just wait for the real thing.

OMG – do want! Have they announced any DLC? I might wait for the inevitable GotY edition and pick that up later on in the year, I’m so stacked for games right now!

Rare second post – could we lost the delightful ‘shits the bed’ style hyperbole? Spud shits the bed but visually stunning games should rape your eyes or the like not soil your duvet.

Just played the demo last night and if that is what the engine looked like 7 months ago then i fear for my eyes when i buy the game.
He mentioned that u probably can’t play the whole game through using just the Blades. I hope that’s true because they always seem to become way more overpowered than other weapons, therefore making the other weapons near useless.

To be honest it’s not the landscape and scenery that is impressing me. It’s the characters, and the animation.

And as much as you have ONE camera position, there aren’t different models and animations for each angle, and it just look superb.
